imported_Kat Posted February 12, 2004 Posted February 12, 2004 Just back from traning and I'm noticing that Meg is favouring her left shoulder which I am not impressed with. It is very very subtle and not very noticeable, but I can tell definitely that her gait isn't her usual smooth prance. She isn't in any pain and I can do anything with the paw and all the way up the leg, and she doesn't flinch. I am thinking that perhaps Tyler might have came down on her and hurt her, or the alternative.. that she may be developing a wee touch of arthritis :-? Im giving her Ibuprofen for a few days to see what happens then taking her next week to the vets to maybe get a cartrophen injection when she gets her booster. Its not good at all with Crufts so soon, but she comes first and foremost.. Fingers crossed... Crufts is less than 3 weeks away... :shake: Quote
ellieangel Posted February 12, 2004 Posted February 12, 2004 I hope she will be ok Kat maybe Tyler bruised her :( Quote
DogPaddle Posted February 13, 2004 Posted February 13, 2004 Hope Meg is well soon. My vet also suggested no ibuprofen or acetaminaphin (sp?) products for my dog. He suggested only uncoated A.S.A (aspirin) ant not much of that either, for a 75 lb dog he was suggesting a max of three regular strength a day. You could look into Yucca if your interested in herbal options. Quote
imported_Kat Posted February 13, 2004 Author Posted February 13, 2004 Thanks for that guys.. We were giving ibuprofen to dogs for many years in the surgery where I was and it definitely said on the tub, the dosage for dogs... so really I don't know what to think. However in saying that I have just called another vet and am waiting for the vet to call me back to get an appointment and to get some form of anti-inflammatory. Amazing what we learn through these boards. I shall keep you updated. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted February 13, 2004 Posted February 13, 2004 The one thing I use on all my dogs after a workout, to keep their muscles from getting sore, and just in general when one is acting sore... DMSO. I LOVE this stuff!!! You can get it at most animal stores (horse&cow) and it comes in two different forms, liguid and gel. The liquid is extremely strong. I think anyone who would use this on a sore dog would love it. I swear by it! Oh, if you do try some, wear some rubber gloves, two pair. It gets rather "warm". Quote
imported_Kat Posted February 13, 2004 Author Posted February 13, 2004 We are going along the path of Glucosamine and vitamin E (which she already gets) for a few days to see if that helps any. Thanks for your input, I really do appreciate it. Quote
