I found the following on this site!
http://relocatecanada.com/apartmentpet.html

Be Honest
If the landlord says no, but you just HAVE to have the apartment, be prepared to leave your pet elsewhere. Don't try to sneak a pet in. Chances are you'll get caught. And even if you don't get caught, the stress of hiding a pet can undo all the great benefits of having one in the first place.

Hey I have an idea, how about if they say no you look for another place and not dump your dog!
I couldn't find a place to reply to them at, oh if I could I would be giving them an earful.

I found many client endorsements on their site but no contact except the one to buy an add on their site - strange don't you think. Wonder how they got those endorsements? Anyway I emailed them at their add buying address, hopefully I'll get somewhere. I made a suggestion on a possible change:
"Be Honest
If the landlord says NO then look somewhere else. Pet owners may need to allow more time for a succesful search. Don't try to sneak a pet in. Chances are you'll get caught. And even if you don't get caught, the stress of hiding a pet can undo all the great benefits of having one in the first place. "

I agree HIllside....a little more intensive searching is necessary for an apartment that allows pets, and a months security deposit non-refundable, at least here. All of my apartments (before I got a house) allowed pets...
I wouldnt rent one that didnt...

Ya, its unfortunate how many ads I see regarding pets that need new homes due to their owners moving to a place that doesnt allow animals. It took A TREMENDOUS amount of time and effort for me to find a place that would allow not only one, but two big dogs. You have to improvise sometimes. LOL, when I was asked what kind of dogs I had I would say "An Akita, and a terrier mix." I would rather be homeless than give up my dogs.

I think that when someone gives up a pet with a reason like "I'm moving" they are just using that as an excuse to dump an animal. I can't imagine someone loving and caring for a pet then just deciding to move somewhere without that pet. It just makes no sense. I think that unfortuantely allergies are often used as an excuse too, however I do know that in some cases there really is an allergic family member. When we were talking to rescues about our cat killer dog Abbie, the people were always shocked that I was asking for help in finding a way to keep my dog, they didn't understand, becuase they were so used to people telling them they wanted their dog gone today, no more chances, done, over!

There is a good chance my partner and I are going to move to Europe for our postdoctoral training and we have already decided the cats and the dog go with us no matter how long and expensive the process to get them there!
