I was coming off the Heath yesterday with the dogs and saw a lady in her car and her daughter in her car. They had lost their 14 year old dog called Scamp. :( He had bolted when out with her husband after hearing a loud bang from the racecourse. He has heart problems and they were very worried about him. Beyond the Heath and racecourse is farmland and Water Board land going right up to the next town.

The daughter had walked this twice with no sign of Scamp. :( It was getting dark and they had to give up. The lady's daughter thought he'd gone off and died somewhere with the shock. I told them to give me their name and number and we would keep our eyes open as they thought he'd come back to the same place he usually goes every day. I told my friend Josie at the end house. We looked out for him but no joy.

Anyway just got a call at 7.40am from Josie, her husband was looking out of the bedroom window this morning and saw something brown moving on the Heath. He thought it was a fox and went to look. Can you believe it, it was Scamp, :D wet through (the weather has been really bad here), cold and hungry but otherwise seeming okay. Josie dried him off and gave him some food while I rang the owners who live about 5 minutes away by car.

It was the best feeling in the world to give them the news that Scamp had been found and was okay. I could hear in their voices how overjoyed they were. :D So what a wonderful start to my day, some good news for a change and it always pays to take someone's name and phone number.

Three cheers for Scamp. :D :D :D

Can you believe it, the man came to collect his dog. Now this old dog has been out in the bad weather all night for 19 hours, :( it has a bad heart and what did he do. :x He took his other dog out of the car and took them both round the Heath. :x It had just eaten three pouches of cat food at Josie's, it was knackered and wet and he took it walkies.

I think it had had enough walkies and wanted to curl up in a warm bed and sleep it's ordeal off.
