gooeydog Posted January 12, 2004 Posted January 12, 2004 A couple nights ago I was in bed ready to fall asleep, when Annie got up (she normally sleeps down by my feet, under the covers) and wandered up by my pillow behind me. I didn't really think much of it, until I heard the sound of her lapping water, flopped over, and found her drinking out of MY cup of water :o . There have been a few times in the recent past where I've woken up in the middle of the night and not had as much water as I'd had when I fell asleep, but never really thought about the implications of it, until I saw her in the act  . Is nothing sacred? Quote
Horsefeathers! Posted January 12, 2004 Posted January 12, 2004 Oh, how sweet that Annie loves you enough to be willing to drink after you! She could have gotten water from anywhere, but she chose to drink after YOU. Now, is that love or what?? Quote
Malamum Posted January 12, 2004 Posted January 12, 2004    That made me laugh out loud  Quote
gooeydog Posted January 12, 2004 Author Posted January 12, 2004 The funny thing is that I rarely see her drink anything unless we've just came in from playing out in the yard... so she must be binging(sp?) on my water at nights while I'm asleep  Quote
imported_Cassie Posted January 12, 2004 Posted January 12, 2004 Ya never know what the little devils are doing behind your back     Quote

MajiesMom Posted January 12, 2004 Posted January 12, 2004 LMAO!!!!! :D That is soooo cute! People think I'm crazy because I have water bowl in every room from Magic. Quote
courtnek Posted January 13, 2004 Posted January 13, 2004 I dont want to be a damper, but is your water different from her water. Like yours comes from a bottle and hers from the tap? Dogs have senses we dont, if yours is bottled water, she may prefer it to the tap... I had to put a MAJOR filtration system on my tap water because of impurities...there are kits you can get to test the water. Quote
gooeydog Posted January 13, 2004 Author Posted January 13, 2004 There is a big bowl of water in my room, it gets filled with water from the fridge (through a filter first) every couple days, and I've seen both of them drink out of it before, so I know it's not a problem. At one point, I did have to keep a leash on her at night, wrapped around my arm or ankle, to keep her from jumping out of bed at night and peeing on the floor, but haven't needed to do that for the past 2 or 3 months. It could be though that she remembers not being able to get down before, and still thinks she can't (which I'd actually prefer anyway, I still don't trust her in the housebreaking dept), not sure. If not that, then I'd guess she's just being lazy and choosing my convenient cup of water over the bowl all the way across the room (about 6 ft  ). I've offered her drinks every night before bed for the past couple nights, and she's turned them down, though I haven't heard her sneaking up for my drink either. Quote
DogPaddle Posted January 13, 2004 Posted January 13, 2004  With two dogs and two cats that both seem to think my water MUST be better than theirs (it is in fact from the same source) I finally gave up and keep my bedside water in a glass bottle I got from some nicnac store - it is very pretty but the key thing is that it as a bottle neck. Quote
bk_blue Posted January 13, 2004 Posted January 13, 2004 LMAO living with Annie must be a laugh a minute... she cracks me up! Quote

Peng1zrule Posted January 13, 2004 Posted January 13, 2004 OH, this reminds me SO MUCH of when I got sick this summer! It might have been a horribly bad case of allergies, but I digress. My mother kept saying, "I think the dogs made you sick..." and I vehemently denied it all. Until one day, I made myself this big, tall, glass of ice water. I put it on the headboard (book shelf headboard) and took a nap. Buddy had gone to sleep with his head on my pillow, watching me breathe since the congestion was so bad I was having difficulty breathing. I woke up once, expecting my cup to be full to the brim and ice cold...it was at the same level and room temperature, but the ice had all melted. "hm." I thought, "must be the heat" I took a big gulp or four, and went back to sleep. An hour later, I rolled over in time to see Buddy help himself to his fill of water, and go back to sleep. "OH NO!" I remember thinking. "She was right!" (strangely enough, I got BETTER after drinking after buddy.....) Quote
