behle Posted December 14, 2003 Posted December 14, 2003 Sorry I've been gone so long. Here's an update on Ben & Jerry. They are getting along fabulously, even sleeping next to each other from time to time. Jerry is a real attention hog and does try to insert himself between Ben and whoever is petting Ben at the time. Ben gets his own back by jumping up on the couch before Jerry can at times. They are too funny. Jerry is a real toy maven. He is spoiled beyond belief. We took him to the Humane Society from which he was adopted. They were happy to see him, but said..."I don't remember him being that sturdy looking!" Yes, Jerry is eating too much and now that winter has hit is not getting enough exercise. I will have to fix this, although I'm quite sure Jerry is more than happy with his current state. Ben had a fatty tumor removed from his chest. Thank goodness that's all it was. I guess they had quite a time getting the initial shot in him for sedation. He's not grouchy, he just walks away. At any rate, his incision is healed and now the hair is beginning to grow back. All is well in his neck of the woods. Miss Ashley, our gray long-haired cat is doing great. But....Poor Miss Paisley, my grouchy tortie girl, had been very ill. Just this past Friday I had to have her put to sleep. I bawled the whole time, held her as she passed over to the bridge, and took her home for burial. She was my best girl. I loved her like I loved poor Max. Two best friends in one year...now gone. I just have to vent about another cat owner who was at the counter next to me at the Emergency Vets (my country vet was on farm calls and not available). She brought in a lovely orange tomcat in a cramped, metal cage. About the size of a hamster cage. A dirty green towel was over it as she forked over her $60 to have him put to sleep. The vet tech asked her if she just wanted the vet to take a look at the sore on his side and to give him more medicine....but the girl coarsly replied....Nah! We are tired of him getting out of the house and getting in catfights! I wanted to kick her right in her sorry butt! And then she said....You can take care of his body too. It was all the vet tech could do to be civil. Then this excuse for a woman turned and left the clinic. My God! People can be so awful. The exam room where we waited had a window that looked out into the central glassed in portion of the clinic. I could see the tomcat being put to sleep. I was impressed with the loving care he received. The staff cared for him as if he were their own, holding him, petting him, until the end. There are angels out there. Thank you to all vet techs everywhere who are so compassionate! Miss Paisley's end was as calm as could be. She went peacefully, her suffering over. I hope she is wreaking havoc on Max up at the Bridge. Go get 'em, Paisley! (said through tears) Quote
Aonir Posted December 14, 2003 Posted December 14, 2003 Your sure going through a lot :( I'm sorry about your kitty - you shoulda took the other kitty home. ;) The poor thing. She could have taken it so a shelter. Irresponsible owner! I don't know what I'd do if I seen someone do that to a pet :-? Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted December 14, 2003 Posted December 14, 2003 Awe, I remember hearing stories and seeing pics of Paisley, at least she's out of pain, and causing havock with Max at the bridge    Good to know that Jerry is doing so well! :D It's great to hear from you! Quote
imported_Kat Posted December 14, 2003 Posted December 14, 2003 Good of you to drop by Behle  Sorry to hear about your wee cat but you know that you gave her a super life. Good to hear that the rest of the pack are fine :fadein: Quote
mouseatthebusstop Posted December 14, 2003 Posted December 14, 2003 Loverly to see you again behle. Very sorry you have lost Paisley then it made it harder by that nasty woman in the vets Quote
courtnek Posted December 14, 2003 Posted December 14, 2003 I am sorry about your loss Behle, but you did what was necessary for the good of Paisley....be proud of that, not burdened. It's our job to see to it that our furry friends are kept well and out of pain. Sometimes that requires the "hard choice", as I know too well... Know that Paisley is happy and giving Max a hard time, and as for the stupid woman at the vet, also know that "what goes around, comes around...." Peace to you Behle. You did the right thing. :-? abker17 Posted December 14, 2003 Posted December 14, 2003 I agree with Courtnek. :D I glad that u stopped in to say hi, we were wonderin' where u had been. :) It's good to hear that u're dogs are doin' well, and I'm so sorry to hear about poor Paisley. But like Courtnek said, u did the right thing and shouldn't feel bad because of it. :) Again, welcome back! :D Quote
Horsefeathers! Posted December 15, 2003 Posted December 15, 2003 Behle! I've been thinking about you lately, wondering how you've been and where in blue blazes you were! I'm glad the guys are doing so great. I'm sorry to hear about Paisley. I recently acquired yet another rescue Standard Poodle, this time a girl, and I almost named her Paisley, but opted for another name as I knew your Paisley was one of a kind and didn't want that name to lose its "uniqueness." I'm truly sorry you had to lose such a special friend so soon after losing another. My thoughts are with you. I hope to see you around more! Quote
StarFox Posted December 15, 2003 Posted December 15, 2003 Sorry to hear about Paisley, but I'm sure she is having a blast with Max at the Bridge. And Cournek is right, that supid woman will get hers. Hopefully someone will put her down. :evilbat: Quote
