Guest Mutts4Me Posted December 7, 2003 Posted December 7, 2003 My poor dog. She's so routine oriented, and she just hates change. The past couple months have been sooo stressful for her. First, the kitten comes in, and she keeps on getting warned off from him, and held back, and scolded, not to mention the kitten continues to his at her some times. Oh yeah, and she's not into toys, just her treats and rawhides, and the kitten's decided that he loves to play with her rawhide sticks, much to Sas's horror. So she's been pretty pathetic recently, and we've done everything we can to try and make her feel special (lots of trips to Petsmart included). So now, what did we do but bring in another cat? Sasha's had to go outside through a different door a lot, again warned away from the caged cat, gotten hissed at, and had to suffer watching her family fawn all over another stupid cat, instead of her. It's just intolerable for her. Today we tried to let Sophie out into the main part of the house for a while, and Sasha had to be held back so that her advances didn't spook the kitty. And mom and dad were cooing and calling to Sophie, and talking to Sophie, and petting Sophie, and mean ol' Amber was holding poor Sasha away from her mom and dad. Well, Sophie didn't want to come out, so Sasha was allowed to wander freely about her house (as she shoukd, right Sas?), except not into the entrance way. So where did Sasha decide to lay? Right outside of the entrance way. Watching the kitty, but not moving. Giving me these awful looks, as if it was all my fault (okay, maybe it is...) And then I just had to go in and say hello to Sophie, who was perfectly content to lay for hours on her rug, in front of the heater duct :) And Sasha just watched, quite convinced she'd been betrayed So Sasha is accepting sympathy bones in this time of great stress and cruelty put upon her by her evil owners who like to torture her by rescuing cold, hungry cats out of her backyard. Quote
schippsmom Posted December 7, 2003 Posted December 7, 2003 :Dog_run: Poor Sasha!! Let her know she's not the only one not too crazy about cats. I'm very allergic to them. Sometimes I get reactions from people who own cats coming over to my house and just touching me. I would love to pet and cuddle cats but I just can't do it so let Sasha know she has my sympathy. Guest Mutts4Me Posted December 8, 2003 Posted December 8, 2003 Well, Sas is generally okay with cats, as we've had three for a few years now. But this is a really stressful time, considering both of these cats had a pre-existing fear of dogs. The other kittens would hiss the first couple days, but they adjusted all right. Scooter's doing pretty good now, but just as that issue was settling, we bring in a full grown cat who doesn't like dogs. Not fun for the dog. And Sophie has claimed the part of the house she's been in the past week and a half, and even though the door's open to the rest of the house is open, she rarely comes in. But today when Sophie was in the main part of the house, Sasha went into "Sophie's" bathroom because my mom was in there, and Sophie turned around and charged her (Sas) because she was invading her territory. We put up a makeshift barrier to keep the dog out of the room while Sophie wandered around it, and that stressed her out. Then she keeps on getting called away from the cat, or held in one place. We're doing our best to be positive for her, but this situation, while necessary, is not pleasant for anyone. All we can hope is that the crazy cat will eventually get used to the dog, and things'll calm down and settle into a routine, which will please my crazy pup very much :) Quote
