Did anyone see Petsmart's newspaper ad today? It's full of dog toys! All the stores have tons of dog toys! Some are so cute, and look fun... but my dog doesn't like toys. It's very disappointing, lol.

I'll have to pick up some toys and donate them to dogs who know what a ball is for ;)

I know what you mean. My standard poodle never liked to play with toys. He would play with a ball now and then but that was it. Buck LOVES toys and it's kind of neat! He loves to play tug 'o' war with ropes :-)

I didn't know that we had any petsmarts in Michigan... But I don't get over to flint very often

My Newfoundland dogs don't play with toys at all....I bought them alot of toys including these neat giggle balls....none of them know what to do with them and look horrified that I would even think they would want to chase them! my Rottwieler on the other hand loves to play with balls and tries to intice my Newf's to play by taking the ball and trying to shove in their mouths!!! the only thing all my Newf's and Rottie will play with are rope toys and they all join in a game of tug-of-war together...very cute. My Rottie also gets hours of entertainment out of discarded pop bottles (plastic ones) I take off the cap and she swats this around and plays for hours.

sheltielover,
Isn't it funny how we can spend a small fortune on great toys for our dogs...and what do they want...the garbage you normally throw away!
My Rottie gets so excited when I throw down a platic bottle! I even take them to the lake and throw them in the water for her...they float! (for this I leave on the cap) I always recycle when she is finished...I wonder if they use the used bottles for bottleing pop??? if so there must be alot of people walking around with pop squirting from their bottle...leaking from Rottie teeth puncture marks! :o

We don't have a Petsmart in Lansing, either...just Pet Supplies Plus, Soldan's (local chain) and Petland (BOO!). Oh, and I think a new Petco just opened up...

Oh, don't forget about Preuss... But I guess that's big for me because of the fish. They do have dog/cat stuff too, though. And I went to that new Petco in Frandor a couple weekends ago, and it was really nice. The Petco in Flint is nasty, but the Lansing one is big and very clean :)

Everyone else whose dogs don't like toys, were they always like that? Sasha came from an abusive home, and I figured she doesn't like toys because they never played with her as a pup, but maybe some dogs are just "above" toys naturally.

i saw the ad!! Zoey and Cody LOVE toys! they dont last long .. i think the longest was 4 months.. and that is becuase they pulled the stuffing out of it and the huge tiger was still big eneough for them to play tug of war with and they throw it up in the air and catch it.. lol i buy cheap toys.. so that way i dont spend alot of money on toys every month.. even the expenisive ones dont last long..

LOL I think the best "toy" that BK ever had was an old soccer ball I grabbed off a hard rubbish collection on our way home from the park one night. Now when I say "toy" I mean something that he was allowed to destroy, unlike the fence, the side of the house, Rinny's tennis balls, books, the garden hose, my watch...
The soccer ball is long gone but he still loves plastic milk bottles, his obedience dumbbell and any bone he can find. The Kong I bought him he doesn't play with because he's too lazy (or too well fed)- he knows he'll get fed soon so he doesn't have to try to get the food out.
