Sharpeigirl Posted November 18, 2003 Posted November 18, 2003 Sassy just bit my arm :o I have no idea what I did, or what she thought, I'm just stunned right now. I thought we had our problems worked out, and now this :( Quote
abker17 Posted November 18, 2003 Posted November 18, 2003 Oh Dear. :( What were the surcumstances?(sp??) Any food or toys near her? Might she be in pain? What were u trying to do? Think back to every move that u made, u could have been doing something and didn't even notice it. Quote
Sharpeigirl Posted November 18, 2003 Author Posted November 18, 2003 Only thing I did was take her collar off. She just went after Becky when she came home from work. I managed to get her into her crate with out to much damage. :o :o What happened to her?????????? She was fine this morning, and during the day, but this evening, she just flipped out. I'm going to take her to vet first thing tomorrow, if I can even get near her. Everytime I walk by the crate she goes off  :( Someone please tell me what's going on  Quote
abker17 Posted November 18, 2003 Posted November 18, 2003 Geez that's odd. :o :x :( She might be in pain, or she might have some sort of underlying problem. Taking her to the vet is definatly the best thing to do. Lots of hugs coming from this side of the world, I'm sorry I can't help u more. :( Quote
Sharpeigirl Posted November 18, 2003 Author Posted November 18, 2003 I feel like I've compltely lost the battle with her. I knew she had agression problems, but it was never towards us. She's going to hurt herself on the crate if she doesn't chill out. Becky can get near the crate, and open it & Sassy doesn't react, but if I come anywhere near the crate, she goes off, and her hackles go up. Quote
Aonir Posted November 19, 2003 Posted November 19, 2003 Has she been tested for any type of disease? Her acting like that isn't normal for any dog. Especially out of no where. Quote
Duke_3 Posted November 19, 2003 Posted November 19, 2003 Oh im sorry. Thats too bad. You should see what the vet says, and after that if the vet says everythings fine and she still tryes to do that, mabey try to move her crate into like the living room, or your room, and put her in it. Stay in the same room with her for a while untill she stops barking and just be like "hey sassy, hey gurl, its only me ok, and just keep making eye contact and talk to her sweetly and let her know that your her friend not her enimie. Sharpeigirl Posted November 19, 2003 Author Posted November 19, 2003 She had a full vet work up when she was hit by the car. I'm seriously wondering if she took a blow to the head, and somthing isn't going on there. :-? :( Quote
courtnek Posted November 19, 2003 Posted November 19, 2003 She had a full vet work up when she was hit by the car. I'm seriously wondering if she took a blow to the head, and somthing isn't going on there Oh Shar I'm SOOOO sorry, but that's exactly what I was thinking. She may have rolled after getting hit and slammed her head..... she needs a neurological workup, check for brain swelling, that sort of thing. I am soo sorry.... Keep us up to date ok? Quote
Duke_3 Posted November 19, 2003 Posted November 19, 2003 Apparently your not supposed to look inot a dogs eyes and make eye contact unless you want them to be intimadated..sp? But with my dog duke, everytime i look into his eyes and he stares back at me, its like im weightless and i know he loves me to. So i guess i thought if you could do that to sassy then mabey shesd think, hey your safe, your good. but mabey not...it depends i guesds.. Quote

Sharpeigirl Posted November 19, 2003 Author Posted November 19, 2003 No, I won't stare at her, she's agressive, and she'd take that as more of a threat. Becky can go up to her and talk to her, like nothing, but if I set foot in the room it's holy hell. Becky has agreed to take her outside, and and stuff tonight. I don't want to lose her so soon. After all the progress we made, and now this. I just wonder why her little world is so messed up, she doesn't understand why she's like this either. I hate BYB's & PM's. I know that Sassy had to be a BYB reject. She was a single puppy without a mom, or littermates at the shelter :( Quote
Sanvean Posted November 19, 2003 Posted November 19, 2003 Oh, sweetie, I'm so sorry. Is there a behaviorist or trainer you've been working with? Quote
bk_blue Posted November 19, 2003 Posted November 19, 2003 I'm really sorry to hear about you and Sassy. I don't have any advice to offer but hope you can work through this. Quote
StarFox Posted November 19, 2003 Posted November 19, 2003 I am so sorry. This must be so stressfull for you and Becky. But I hope you know that you are doing everything you can for her and you are a great Mom to Sassy. Not many people would put that much time and effort into there dog as you do. Quote
Sharpeigirl Posted November 19, 2003 Author Posted November 19, 2003 I don't know what to do :( It's un-fixable. She's still at the vets office under watch. All signs point to a major head trauma. I don't know if I should go back & let her go, or keep trying with the drugs she's packed with. Is the Rainbow Bridge Calling Her Name, and I'm keeping her from it. I just don't know what to do     Quote
midori115 Posted November 19, 2003 Posted November 19, 2003 I don't know what to say but that you and sassy are in our thoughts. You'll make the right decision, I'm sure. You've always done the best for her. ((((hugs)))) Quote
mouseatthebusstop Posted November 19, 2003 Posted November 19, 2003 I am so sorry as K said hugs and shared tears. we are all with you Quote
imported_Kat Posted November 19, 2003 Posted November 19, 2003 Oh shar I don't know what on earth to say to you. My thoughts are with you, and lets just see what the outcome from the vet is. *hugs* Quote
marion Posted November 19, 2003 Posted November 19, 2003 Thinking of you and Sassy at this very difficult time. :( Quote
Aonir Posted November 19, 2003 Posted November 19, 2003 I say do whatever your vet says.. He isn't going to try and lead you astray.. He'll tell you the chances of her getting better, but you can tell by his expression what he thinks you should do. Don't be afraid to ask. You and Becky are in my thoughts Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted November 19, 2003 Posted November 19, 2003 Here are two things I try to remember during the rough times: 1: As with all things in life, this to will pass 2: What doesn't kill you makes you stronger You will come out of this a different but stronger person. Quote
kendalyn Posted November 19, 2003 Posted November 19, 2003 Oops, that post above was from me. I forgot to log in! Quote
Rowie-the-Pooh Posted November 19, 2003 Posted November 19, 2003 Oh Shar, I'm so sorry. I really don't know what to say. Good Luck with Sassy! *hugs* Sending positive energy your way! You can make it Sassy! Get well soon....! Shar, do you want Sassy to live a long life with drugs and confusion or a shorter but happier life? This is the decision you have to make, it is entirely up to you though! Good Luck you two, you can make it through the rain! :D Quote
