StarFox Posted November 16, 2003 Posted November 16, 2003 Today was Zebra's one week check up. SO after much fuss and confusion me, my dad and mom managed to get him in the back of the car. He was soo happy to just be out of his crate I don't think he cared where he went. Well when we got to the Vets it was PACKED! There were dogs everywhere! They have a huge waiting room and a smaller one. We sat in the smaller one where there was a Cavalier King Pup! She was soo cute and Zebra Loved her and kept wanting to play with her. Her owner was super nice and she said that she had the pup's brother and father at home. Of course I'm thinking oh god another breeder. But then she told me that they were all AKC registered, and that she showed her Cacaliers on a very regular basis and I was quite relieved. Then there was a bernese mountain dog X who lunged at Zebra and the owner apollogised so much but i didn't mind so much because we wern't very close and I can understand that allot of dogs there are probabaly in pain and wern't very socialble. We finally saw the dog and he said that zebra was doing great but the incision on the inside of his leg was a little inflamed so he is keeping zebra on antibiotics for another week. They took x-rays again and showed us and wow! His hip looks 100% better and the doc said that zebra's bones looked great and that's exactly the outcome they were looking for. So yea! We have to go back again next week so Zebra can get his staples removed and they are going to give us some exersizes for him to do. While we were in the Discharge waiting room there was this old man with this Old old old Boxer and he was at the desk paying and all of sudden we heard a loud thump (we were talking to some of the other people in the waiting room) and we look over and the dog is lying on the ground having a seizure!!! His body was shaking all over then suddenly he just went stiff. Like in 2 seconds they had him on a strecher and took him into the ER. The poor man was devistated and had to go into the bathroom right away. I felt so sorry for him and his dog, you could tell that he loved this dog more than anything. I guess that was the second seizure he had that day and they were about to go and then it happend. Thank dog they were at the hospital! Finally a few nurses and a doctor come out and call him to another room. I don't know what happend to the dog but I think they were going to keep him for tests or the guy might have decided to put him to sleep. I have never seen anything like it, I was shocked and horrified. One of the women we were talking to actually started to cry she was so sad. So that was my adventures at the Animal Hospital today. Sheesh! Quote

Guest Anonymous Posted November 16, 2003 Posted November 16, 2003 wow what great news, i`m so happy for you and Zebra. :D it`s very sad about the boxer, my Ben (who`s gone to the bridge now :( ) used to suffer from fits like that but they were due to a brain tumour :( I know how upsetting and distressing they can be to watch :( Quote

Your right Kat...not stop drama. When we went to pick him up last week there was this man and woman who brought in a Mini-Pincher that got hit by a tow-truck. The dog had 2 broken legs, a broken hip, a head laceration and a bunch of other things. The local AC showed up and right as they were about to take it to a different hospital someone got ahold of the owners of the dog! Right at the last min! I'm perty sure they would have just put down the dog if the AC officer had taken it (Los Angeles AC is realy bad). But they found the owners and they told them to leave the dog at that hospital and to have sergury imidiatly. The man and woman who brought the dog in were crying and they paid for the imidiate consulation and some x-rays and a bunch of other stuff. They ended up paying 500 dollars for a dog they had found. But they said that they didn't want any money back from the real owners that knowing that the dog would be ok was enough. Sometimes people are such  . Quote
