Guest Anonymous Posted November 11, 2003 Posted November 11, 2003 Story from the local paper that goes a little like this: Garbage truck doing its usual rounds on a weekday morning. Usually the rubbish is crushed/compacted as they go along, but this morning there was a malfunction and it had to be taken back to the depot to be fixed. As it was being fixed there was an insistent meowing from the bowels of the truck. The mechanics found a 4 week old silver tabby cat that had been DUMPED IN A RUBBISH BIN, IN A PLASTIC BAG- if the truck hadn't broken down that poor kitten would have been history. The kitten was subsequently named Lucky. So at least this story has a happy ending. I couldn't stop bawling when I read it. The cruel, disgusting excuse for a human being who did this should have been dumped in the bin instead and crushed alive- any helpers... :evilbat: I am sorry but I really despair sometimes... how can we stop people from committing such foul deeds....? xavierandrea Posted November 11, 2003 Posted November 11, 2003 I will never understand how someone could be so cruel! Animals have feelings too. Can you image what the kitty was probally thinking? Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted November 11, 2003 Posted November 11, 2003 I'm an Animal Precinct addict! I saw that same episode and wanted to cry! (I also wanted to jump through my tv and give those people who grabbed the first puppy a great big old hug for rescuing it) People can be so cruel! Haven't we evolved enough yet to relize that animals are worth keeping around? Quote
imported_Kat Posted November 11, 2003 Posted November 11, 2003 No matter ow many cruelty cases I see in work or hear about throught the media, it still amazes me that human coud be so callous. Quote

behle Posted November 12, 2003 Posted November 12, 2003 People can be vile..... This post reminds me of an incident that took place in the town I work in. A garbage truck pulled up to a house where a man was calmly smoking a cigarette watching the truck arrive. The workers got out, emptied the can into the truck and pulled the lever to compact the trash. As they pulled the lever they thought they heard faint meowing....so they tried to reverse the compacter. But no luck. The man then turned and went into his house. When it finished cycling the guys reversed it and searched through the trash and found a whole litter of little kittens had been crushed to death in the compacter. They were horrified and called the police. The guy was picked up and charged with animal cruelty and spent some time in jail and had to pay a large fine. In my mind that's not enough punishment for him.... I'm with you guys! I believe they should really pay for their abuse. I can't believe the utter cruelty of some people.  Quote

It would be an honor NOT to be called human! :x What a sad sad story... but one of the few with a GOOD ending! The kitty was SO lucky the truck had a problem with it! The human race makes me sick...! dogsgalore Posted November 13, 2003 Posted November 13, 2003 Its sickening what some people will do to helpless animals! :x Last year my Aunt read a story in the paper that said someone had dropped a box of puppies off at the Humane Society during the night. It was winter and two of the puppies froze to death before they were found the next morning. My Aunt went to the Humane Society and the puppies were so cute she and my Uncle adopted the little female. She is a Siberian Husky/Blue Heeler cross, extremely friendly and hyper! She's got blue eyes and they named her Ice. She's a great dog! 8) Quote

courtnek Posted November 16, 2003 Posted November 16, 2003 me three..... My ex found a kitten frozen to the underside of a garbage dumpster quite a few years back....she had had a home at one time, because there were collar scuffs around her neck, but now she was thinm starving and frozen to the ground. The melted the ice she was stuck to and took her inside the school (he worked at a college doing heating and AC repair) and they discovered that she had no use of one of her back legs....it had gangrene. They have no idea if she was a runaway, or a dump, but he got all of his co-workers together to raise money for the vet, and get the leg amputated. Then they kept her in the boiler room in the college (nice and warm in there) and they fed her and changed her box, etc. until I could get her adopted out. I laughed at him about that all the time, him and all his "macho, hard-assed, tough-guy" friends, (these were big, burly, tough guys on the surface) fawning over a kitten.....all softies at heart, every one of them!!   the moral of this story is that there really ARE decent people in the world, under all guises....unfortunately, the media always chooses to portray everyone's evil side....you dont often hear about the good stuff. I think there should be a place in all newspapers for the "good deed of the day", where all the good stuff gets written up.... 8) Quote
