OKay, I've been trying to teach Coal to roll over for like about 2 months now, no kidding. He seemed to get "high centered" on his back, so I finally was about to give up, thinking "whatever, my dog just can't roll over" no biggy. Not like in a state of emergancy I'm guna need him to roll over  I hope. :niedowiary:
And so okay guys... you made me cave, you did it! I LOVE THE CLICKER!!! I will never part with it, I will put it on a band around my wrist, and it shall never leave my side, and I shall call it... Squishy, and it will be my little Squishy. (Sorry, was watching Finding Nemo last night   )
I'm so proud! We did our usual stuff, the "important" ones first... ya know, lay down (my god that dog can do that well :D ) , Sit, Stay, Come, Wait, and the ever so hard, Heal. So afterwards I figured we could do a trick to end off training for the night. Plus our instructor wants us to have a trick ready for... I think last class  :D So I got him to lay down, then kina pushed him over onto his side and tried to get him to follow the treat with his nose, therefore, rolling over, and ah! SUCCESS! When he moved a little, I clicked, and praised. Second time he moved a bit more, Click/tones of praise. Third time ALL THE WAY! I gave him a "jackpot" and clicked and tones of cookies and praise, and now I can get him to rollover about 60% of the time! Pretty good for finally getting it just in one night :D YAY! GO COALY! Who knows what possibilities I could come up with with this new found training tool! :evilbat:

Well I could say "I told you so" :P

In all seriousness though.... I need to find a name for my clicker!!! I mean, it just seems like the thing to do, I didn't know that every one elses clicker had a name! :o

Congrats for Coal though, doesn't it make you so happy when all that hard work pays off? I had some hard work pay off for me yesterday, not on Monties behalf at all. I've been going to obedience and learning as much as I can for just over a year now and yesterday when I took Montie to class the trainer asked me "is it ok if you teach half the class today, the other instructer is at work" so I got to teach! :D Montie was like a little fashion accessorie as I walked around with my furry hand bag and gave people tips etc and checked on all the doggies progress. It was so much fun!!! I'm going to take an instructors course soon so I can help out even more with the club

Oh, I see -- your dogs are deaf. Well, I know on the clicker sites they say you can use a mini-flashlight or lasar pointer instead as a "marker". You just have to 'charge it up' like the clicker first so they learn that when they 'see the light' (HA!) it means treats.....

happybooker - a laser pointer would NOT be a good thing to use at all. We've already had a big discussion about it how it can cause OCD...
