Guest Anonymous Posted November 7, 2003 Posted November 7, 2003 puppy mill allright. most of those animals look sickly and like they are afraid of humans, which isn't at all what a puppy should act like at that age. Quote

Guest Anonymous Posted November 7, 2003 Posted November 7, 2003 Sharpeigirl napisaĆ(a):they have an e-mail addy. We could e-mail them & ask question about the dogs  Oohh, I did that. Sent them a dumb, clueless e-mail, lol. (will post it and the reply if/when I get one) I feel so dishonest right now. But I'm sure I'll get over it soon ;) Oh, and, ummm... Now, I'm not a small dog person, and I don't pretend to know a whole lot about them. But I am very interested in Tibet, and I'm pretty sure that "The Land of the Gods" is not Lhaso  Hey, I'm surprised no one mentioned the Lhasa Apso when I asked for Indian dogs and said that the Tibetan Mastiff and Terrier were close enough. Oh well, it was probably a weird question, lol :) Amber Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted November 7, 2003 Posted November 7, 2003 Let's start a e-mail barage to get them to put up some health refrance or something  DOGO can take down another mill if we trry :p Quote
imported_Kat Posted November 7, 2003 Posted November 7, 2003 They don't even know how to spell the breed names! Lhaso apso is wrong, its Lhasa apso! grrrr people like this just make me growl so much :bad-words: Quote
Sharpeigirl Posted November 8, 2003 Posted November 8, 2003 Look how scared they look  And aren't they a tad young to be away from mom. I'd give an arm & a leg to get that black & white baby away from there :( Quote
abker17 Posted November 8, 2003 Posted November 8, 2003 Yeah, those Borders really tug at u're heart.   Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted November 8, 2003 Posted November 8, 2003 FARM COLLIES? WTF IS FARM COLLIES????? Rowie, farm collies or scotch collies do exist, but their VERY rare and those are not them. That place is truely dispicable, wish there was some way to get those puppies out without casuing more to be bred. :x  Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted November 9, 2003 Posted November 9, 2003 So just out of curiousity, I sent this dumb e-mail to the place to see what they'd say: Hi, I'm looking for a puppy. I've always been a cat person, I have one in my apartment with me now, and I thought having a dog would be fun, too. So I found your website and was wondering a couple things. You had 4 kinds of collies - border collies, farm collies, miniature collies, and collies. What's the difference, other than the fact that I guess miniature collies are smaller? I also thought the fawn akita was cute. What can you tell me about them? I've never heard of one before. Are the parents at the kennels, so I could come see what the puppies will look like when they grow up? And this is the response I got: BEST THING THAT YOU CAN DO IS GET A BOOK ON DOG BREEDS AND DO YOUR HOMEWORK SO YOU CAN EVALUATE JUST WHAT IS BEST FOR YOUR ACCOMODATIONS AND A NEW PUP.YOU ARE WELCOME TO COME AND SEE MY PUPS SAT.-SUN. 10 A.M.-3 P.M. HACKETTS KENNELS 1-610-681-5236 So I guess I'm not going to get any kind of pointed response from her. Just wanted to post that because I said I would. Oh yeah, and I promise the questions I asked were made up ;) I know the difference between a border collie and a collie... and a sheltie (err, umm, miniature collie, huh). As far as Farm/Scoth collies go, I guess from most vantage points, they're the old fashioned collie dogs that existed before the AKC turned them little and streamlined. Although this site http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/scotchcollie.htm Says that there are several variations, including a kind of hunting dog now. But most things I found on the internet (like this) http://izebug.syr.edu/~gsbisco/ofc.htm Suggested it was the old fashioned type. Reading all the articles about these dogs and the change toward the AKC dogs made me remember a scene from "Lad, A Dog" or one of the Sunny Bank Collies series, anyway. They decided to take Lad, their big, old fashioned collie, to a dog show and were shocked by the "collies" there. They were really embaressed to go out into the ring with Lad. That feeling was confirmed when the judge went over, quickly felt Lad's head and body, and sent them off to the side. But it turned out that he was a Scothman, and he was so overcome by the sight of Lad (who was everything he thought a real collie should be) that he decided instantly to give him the blue. I always loved collies as a kid :) This kid I knew had this huge old fashioned collie when I was little, and my school bus went by their house every day, and I was just in awe of him. Once I got to take him for a walk :D But I've always liked the big old fashion types. The AKC collies are so small in comparison to them that they are maybe what that puppy mill meant by "Minature Collies," instead of Shelties  Amber Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted November 9, 2003 Posted November 9, 2003 Ok, I'm wondering exactly what it means by they are guarenteed on your vets approval... I'm confused. I think they'll be hearing from, just another ditzy blond looking for a puppy for my little sisters chrismas present.... hmm I'm just hoping they don't catch on that I have an australian email address! :o Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted November 9, 2003 Posted November 9, 2003 Well, I've just sent an email, how do you all like: Hi there, I'm looking for a puppy for a christmas present for my little sister. She has always loved puppies and I couldn't think of anything that would make her happier for christmas than a puppy. I came across your web page and your puppies are so cute! But I have looked in all my dog books and have never seen a fawn akita before, or a standard chihuahua, a farm collie or a minature collie. Could you please tell me about these breeds? Also, what type of terrier is the sheltie crossed with? I was also wondering exactly what you mean about their health being guarenteed on my vets approval? We don't have any pets, so we don't have a vet. One last question, why are all the puppies in saw dust? Doesn't it make them sneaze? I hope I will hear from you soon, there's not long until christmas and I really want to make my sister happy with a cute little puppy to cuddle! Jeanne I'll let you know when and if they respond! I can't believe how sickly those puppies are, and they are so disproportioned, it must have taken generations of bad breeding to come up with puppies looking like that! :o Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted November 9, 2003 Posted November 9, 2003 But I have looked in all my dog books and have never seen LOL :) Quote
imported_Kat Posted November 9, 2003 Posted November 9, 2003 I can tell you now that those are not pedigree Border Collies. They have been mixed with Shetland sheepdogs. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted November 10, 2003 Posted November 10, 2003 LOL mutts4me, I just had to throw that one in!!!! Quote
