Guest Anonymous Posted November 6, 2003 Posted November 6, 2003 Im sorry if your breeding them but these 20+" tall, 100+lb monsters are NOT APBTs!! They have bad conformation, no agility, no endurance, no stamina... they are just big. and You tell me one time that that an increase in size EVER assisted this breed in its breeding. True pit bulls are capable of making it in the ring, even though we are of course away from that era and advocation the dogs standard shouldnt be altered to include thesee big sloppy beasts. the pit bulls went from 30-50lb to double that or more! does that sound rational or beneficial to the dogs? Its the money grubbers and the mass producers making the dogs go down hill fast. breeding sketchy stock(at best) just because of the size, or the color. I dont get people these days. where are the true breeders that do it for the benefit of the breed, the betterment of the bloodlines and the continuation of the APBT legac Quote
kendalyn Posted November 6, 2003 Posted November 6, 2003 I don't personally know much about APBT conformation, but bad breeding unfortunately is common. And many people quite often think bigger is better... I have to wonder if maybe the bad people who fight these dogs are the ones wanting them to be bigger? Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted November 6, 2003 Posted November 6, 2003 It's not dog fighters doing it. It's more people looking for the biggest and baddest dog around. These dogs do not have a chance in a ring (thank dog), they are far too big and not atheletic like gamebred pits. Quote
GIXXSTER Posted November 6, 2003 Posted November 6, 2003 When I got my APBT I know nothing about the breed, and I mean nothing. I was told that pitbulls were between 60 to 80lbs and that some can get up to 100+lbs. I know now that that is not true. They should not way more then 50 to 60lbs tops (for conformation standards) but like in people there can be dogs that just grow. They may not be conformation quality but they are still APBT. My APBT is about 80lbs and he is just over a year old. He is in no way conformation shape right now either. If he was he would prob be somewhere between 60 to 70lbs. I was even told by a reputable breeder that knew alittle about my dogs bloodlines that for conformation his lines were not that great but they were pretty good for pulling which would explain his size. I do not agree that big APBT are not APBT but I do agree that some breeders do breed to get a bigger then normal APBT. Although like the other thread, if someone says that there APBT is 140 or so, ya I'd have to see what they were smokin. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted November 8, 2003 Posted November 8, 2003 Dogs asked, " Where are the true breeders who do it for the betterment of the breed" Answer: They were outlawed in 1976 with the Animal Welfare Act. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted November 8, 2003 Posted November 8, 2003 Yeah because dogmen are the best breeders. I sure hope you are not here to spout about dog fighting and dogmen Quote
