Laurel let Kyle in my room..she bayed like usual, but he walked in confidenat and pretty much told her to shut up and she did, Then he petted
her like it was nothing (he's VERY sure of himself) and walked out...

This seems to work. She is afraid of people who are afraid of her...

she's weird, I know...

after that she went out and checked out the living room, where everybody was.

Also, she HATES having her feet touched, but since it's been raining for three days straight I have to wipe them off when they come in. It's also a dominance assurance, when they let you touch their feet without bitching...

she let me inspect her feet, and her ears, with no issues. She IS finally coming around, and I am SO PROUD OF HER!!

Thats really super to hear. Major achievment :D

Just tell your son to keep that confidence because it sounds now that Laurel at first was genuinely not confident and showing fear aggression but now that she has settled with you, from what you were describing before, the growling and baying sounded like dominance aggression. Tell Kyle to keep confident so that Laurel gets the message that she is not intimidating Kyle.

Brilliant progress

update:

When I'm at work she sleeps upstairs in her "special place" behind the dresser on the foam bed I made her. Today, she came downstairs and
"associated" with my son and his friends, actually jumped up on the couch and made herself at home. Kyle made her get off, and she was ok with that too....

I'm so proud of her. She is finally settling in and becoming more comfortable, and she seems happy....

Oh, sorry. I just realize how that could be interpreted. I'm just aggravated about this whole sign in thing. That's all that was in reference to. I'm really glad that Laurel is doing well... the po'd thing had nothing to do with her, lol.

I want to thank everybody for all the nice things you've said, and all the
encouragement about getting over this hurdle...

I honestly didnt think she would ever be happy, and had consigned myself to believing she would avoid my son and his friends forever, but at least I knew she has a warm place to live and good food to eat, and that I love her and Freebee does too....seeing her change finally is making ME really happy. We;re not out of the woods yet, she still has issues with Kyle somettimes (he is SOOOO LOUD!!!) but day by day she gets a little more confidant, and I really like to see that...

I was seriously beginning to doubt my ability to make her more comfortable here, and while I wouldnt give her up for anything, I often
wondered if she would be happier somewhere else, with no teenagers to deal with. She seems to be taking it in stride (better than ME!! LOL)
so I thank yu all for your continued support through all of this.
