Guest Anonymous Posted April 24, 2004 Posted April 24, 2004 Florida Statewide Pet Store Demonstrations Saturday, May 8th, 2004 Locations: to be determined These demonstrations should be conducted in accordance with your local city/county ordinances. Those that are interested in arranging for a demonstration in your area, please contact you local police and obtain authorization in writing. Failure to do so, could cause the demonstration to be cancelled. It is also encouraged that you abide by the rules imposed by the ordinance, i.e., signs, blocking of traffic, bullhorns, sticks, hours permitted to demonstrate, etc. The purpose for these demonstrations is to promote public awareness about the pet store/puppy mill link and the atrocities that are occurring here within our communities. As many know, quite a few pet stores in Florida, and quite likely in your area, have been the target of investigations and have drawn the attention of the media. Some have been sued, and others are yet to be sued. Sad to say, it will continue if we don't do our part to stop it. As if things weren't bad enough, many stores have taken to selling their "goods" via the internet, to people all over the country and some worldwide while they bask in the huge profits they are making off of puppy mill puppies. Some of them advertise in the classified sections of the local newspapers, leading the consumer to believe they are buying from private breeders. Some will use various phone numbers that do not ring at their stores but perhaps at their homes. In addition to selling puppies that are sickly and/or dying, some have been known to sell someone a puppy that they didn't ask or pay for, i.e., a male instead of a female, a toy instead of a so-called teacup. They push them out their defective products only these defects are living, breathing creatures that we make part of our family, only to find they have congenital, genetic, hereditary disorders and diseases that cannot be repaired. Many of us have lost our babies to these disorders, and many continue to spend large amounts of money to save them. Numerous stores claim to work with "a small select group of Breeders" This is not true. The Florida Pet Lemon Law is specific with regard to what pet stores must do to comply, yet many continue to do business their illegal, deceptive ways. As per the Dept. of Agriculture/Consumer Affairs, if a business does not respond to their letters/requests, there is nothing they can do. Together we can do something. Encourage people to buy from reputable, private breeders ! who actually love and care for their pets, or adopt from Animal Rescues or Shelters. Your local pet store is the perfect example of who not to buy. Please support this rare event, and attend or organize a demonstration in your area. There are currently some demonstrations that are already planned in some areas of Florida, however there are some areas where we have not had anyone contact us to let us know if they have planned one for their community. It is certainly encouraged to attend one that is already planned, as there is strength in numbers. To have several in one city with a few people is not as beneficial as having one with many people. Those of you who have already planned on taking the lead or organizing the demonstration, please send me an email of where it will be and at what time it will be. For those of you that would like to attend one and would like to know where, please drop me an email and I will either tell you where or put you on the list to notify you when and if I find out. I will also be compiling a list of where the demonstrations that we know of, are taking place. The media is vital to this event. Please contact all available resources to get this message out locally and Nationally if possible and then follow it up just prior to May 8th to let them know where demonstrations will be held. For add'l info., you may email: Terri: tvs5146@bellsouth.net or Patty: sadiedog@wowway.com Quote
courtnek Posted April 24, 2004 Posted April 24, 2004 IT'S ABOUT TIME!!!!! Not only should they be SUED for their disgusting practices, they should be SHUT DOWN...PERMANENTLY. Perhaps if this suit is won, and I pray it is, the Animal Control people and the ASPCA can try to shut them down legally. I would ask the lawyer to include, in the complaint, that the facilities be inspected, by the ASPCA and a third party Vet, not affiliated with either organization. This way neither side can complain there's a bias on the vet's observations....      damn I wish I was in Florida!!! you better believe I'd be at that rally, and loud as hell about it to boot...it might be worth getting arrested for disturbing the peace... :evilbat: :evilbat: :evilbat: :evilbat: Quote
Carolk9s Posted April 30, 2004 Posted April 30, 2004 I decided to look at their site. Hey, they have 'live help'!!! So of course I clicked on it and sent a message. Kimmie: Welcome to Wizard of Claws, how can I help you today? (me): You ought to be ashamed of yourselves. Marketing poorly bred puppies as a simple commmodity. A puppymill by any other name is still a puppymill. Even if you 'just work' there, you are supporting this disgusting and immoral method of making a buck off of living, breathing creatures. Shame on you. Kimmie: I would to thank you for your thoughts we are all allowed to exress of thoughts and opinions but we would orefer to keep this for uisness levels only so if you are not purchasing a puppy please do not use this service, Thank you Then of course the chat session was terminated. Of course. Quote
Carolk9s Posted April 30, 2004 Posted April 30, 2004 Gawd, this is one of the saddest, sickest looking sheltie's I have ever seen. Quote

Carolk9s Posted May 6, 2004 Posted May 6, 2004 The pic I posted is supposed to be of a Shetland Sheepdog. Pathetic looking pup. M&M, I'm sorry you had to learn the hard way, you and your dog are suffering because of this horrible puppy mill and their practices. I would not accept another pup from them, who knows what medical condition the next one would have. Quote

imported_Kat Posted May 8, 2004 Posted May 8, 2004 Having just had a very unintelligeble conversation via live chat with "Ricky", I am sitting here cursing them to hell and back for creating innocent little puppies that cannot be classified as dogs. It makes me so so very angry and pi**ed off  I asked about a "tea cup" Border Collie and he was ready to give me the name of one of his friends who bred them  Total Bas*ards! :madgo: :chainsaw1: Quote

Guest Anonymous Posted June 23, 2004 Posted June 23, 2004 this is so sad i could just cry.. but isnt there a chance with any breeder that the dog could be sick? Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 Here is site for you to check out....www.nopuppymills.com What they are showing on this site is exaclty the type place your dog came from. http://www.kimtownsend.com/imagesearch.htm I'm not going to do a direct link to the images because they are too graphic. http://www.turner.com/planet/promotions/puppies/prisoners.html Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 On page 4 you put up 4 pics of puppys from wizard of claws and you sayd...something about them being sick, I dont see any problom with the black pug or white chiuhuhhua (sorry about the spelling) Wellyways what is the problom with those two? cause i didnt think they looked sick  Quote
Lucky Chaos Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 Wow a whole TWO dogs actually look healthy. Too bad you can't see most genetic problems, and you must have very special talents to be able to see if a dog is sick or not from a picture. Oh and stop defending WOC and learn to spell your own breed, its chihuahua. Quote
katetsai Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 Poor puppies!  those people have a special place reserve for them in hell. It's too bad so many people are totally mis-informed and not willing to do some research before getting their puppies. The puppie mills puppies are in such bad condition, yet they charge more compare to reputable breeders. lilwiljill, everyone make mistakes, now that you're more educate, spread the word & make sure to get your puppie full check-up. You might be one of the very few lucky ones that got a healthy dog, but sadly yours is the exception, not the trend. Good luck with your new puppy and take good care her. Quote
Smooshie Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 Ahhh yes...the Wizard of Claws....Millers and Scammers and Crooks!...oh my!! Its about time they were exposed for the money hungry, puppy mill supporters they really are. Its disgusting how they dress up those poor sickly little puppies in cute little outfits and then charge people RIDICULOUS prices for these inbred, genetically stunted "teacup" dogs :x .....oh and I just LooooOOOOoooove when they peddle white Boxers and Albino Dobes as special "rare" breeds....well no shit sherlock(excuse my language  )....they SHOULD be rare....they shouldn't be BRED in the first place  Ok...rant over...I hope they're shut down for good  Quote
imported_Kat Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 oh geeze please don't get me started on that place again! Quote
Mutt_Lady Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 This is awful. I looked at some of the pictures and I think those images are going to stay with me for quite a while. Horrible. Quote
