Felix and Kusac are eating each other's food.

If I feed Felix first Kusac runs over and starts eating the dog's food. But if I feed Kusac first Felix starts eating the kitty's food. This happens even when I seperate them. Kusac on the counter, Felix on the floor. The cat will actually jump off the counter to get at the dog's food. Kusac is now eating on the washer in the utility room but... without the door closed they both still prefer each other's food. (I can't close the utility room door because there is no heater in there... all the heat flows from the central heater in the living room and rooms start freezing this time of year when the doors are closed.) I just spotted Felix (who was fed and finished his bowl) trying to climb onto the washer to see if Kusac had any left in his. Felix was given more food but hasn't touched it and I ended up putting it away because Kusac was eating it.

Anyways... I thought you guys would get a good laugh out of this. My only hope is that one day maybe (BIG "maybe" here) they will get the hint about the food thing and give up. Somehow I don't think that will happen.

dogs like cat food for some reason, but you need to be careful. It wont hurt the dogs, but dog food does not have a necessary enzyme that cat food does to preserve their vision. Without it, they will go blind. So save enough cat food for your cat!!

courtnek, that would be taurine, which is an amino acid, not an enzyme. :)

dogs can synthesize it, while cats can't.
