Hi all...

There's something that's really bothering me here... See, I have this friend, and she has a dog named Color, she loves him soo much and she can't imagine her life without him... He's 8 years old.. and is kind of sick these days.. So her father decided to take him to the BSPCA... But she doesn't want that.. She loves him soo much.. and no matter how much she whines, he doesn't care!! He threatened to kill Color if she kept on whining... She tried everything.. And so did I!! But nothing's going to change... I really need advice!!!!!

Thanks..

In what way is Color sick?

I don't understand the situation why this girls Dad would take a dog to the shelter if he was sick? Surely a Vet would be more appropriate or does he just not want a dog in the house. :-?

Kat: I don't know in what way Color is sick, and I can't ask the girl, she's pretty heartbroken the way it is... :( I hope her dad changes his mind!!

Hmmm... I heard a different story. :-?

I intended to write a post to you all, but deez beat me. :) Here's my post, it's a bit big on details.

:-?

I'm in a pickle, and I don't really know what to do. A very good friend of mine is an irresponsible breeder. When we first met, and we met because of dogs, I asked her how she was involved with dogs (show, breeding, agility..etc.) and she said she was a breeder. Let me remind you she is 14 or 15 years old. Can you imagine someone that young being a dog owner (with no help from parents), let alone a dog breeder? I was just about to get defensive and tell her she was too young to be a breeder, but I didn't want her to think of me as some kind of phsyco. I went along with it, asking what breed? She said that she bred boxers, Great Danes, Salukis, and Dalmations of ''pet quality''. That's when it went too far, I started telling her about the over population problem and how there where enough dogs in shelters etc. She said that she knew all of that but that she was a responsible breeder.

She is one of my closest friends and has been there for me in all my times of need. I'll make that clear from the start. I love her to bits, she's so wonderful! She makes you feel good, always. Even when she's in a bad mood, she'll hide it just to make you happy. That's how wonderful she is. Now she is NOT, I repeat, NOT a Puppy Miller. She is not in it for the money. She does it becuase she thought she could do it, it sounded fun. You know those kind of people? Who don't mean harm?

All her "breeding" dogs are at the stables where she goes horse riding. Have no idea why. The only dog she has at home is her Belgian Sheperd, Color. He is 8 years old, and a total sweetie! For months she has been telling me that her father is threatening to "let Color loose" or to take Color to the BSPCA. But he never does. Today I was chatting with her on MSNM, and she began telling me that this time her father was really serious about letting Color go. That he was going to take him to the BSPCA in a few days. I seriously didn't know what to say. Finally, I told her that if he was going to take Color to the bspca, that she should tell me, because I volunteer there, and I would try to make him as comfortable as possible, and help the best I can.

So then I asked her why her father wanted to get rid of Color so bad. She said *shudder* because he was....old. Because (and this is what she told me today) he was old and was going to die soon and her father didn't want her to go through the pain of his death so he wants to take him away. Her father also said he would get her a Bull Terrier and a German Shepard after that....ummm excuse me?

Unfortunatly, after I wrote all that it got erased. Thankfully I saved it and am able to post it!

Deez and I really don't want to hurt our friend's feelings, our insult her. I really want my friend to stop getting/breeding dogs in the future. She can love dogs, but not own them. I also really need to save Color. I volunteer at the BSCPA, and i'll make him as comfotable as possible there. Hey, I'll try and find a home for him too! But my friend's father really wants to let Color loose, not take him to the BSPCA.

I'm sure I don't make sence. I'm just so confused and really want to make Color's life easier, without hurting my friend in the process!

Oops sorry, Rowie...

Well.. They heard both sides of the stories (Even though mine was MUCH shorter  )

I think it's wrong just because Color is old that her dad should let him loose... And get her a Bull Terrier and a German Shepherd after that?! What does he think these dogs are.. Some kind of toys that he can exchange anytime he wants?! I'm sorry, I mean I really like the girl but her dad seems.. :-? ....

The father wants to take the dog away so she won't be in pain when the dog dies?? :-? Well she will be upset when the dog is taken away anyways..so that dosn't make much sense to me. Maybe the dad just dosn't want to pay the bills if the dog gets sick and thinks it's better if he takes the dog away. Or maybe he just dosn't like the dog and wants to get rid of it. Either way it's a bad situation. Sorry to say but the dad sounds like a Grade-A Butthead to me.

haha, tis all right me dear!
Its really sad isn't it? :( One thing that annoys me though, the WHOLE family should have agreed on getting a dog, not just one person. :(

Her Dad sounds incredibly irresponsible. One thought that crossed my mind does he want rid of the Belgian because he is past breeding age? It seems so strange to get rid of a family pet then replenish the "stock" with two more dogs both pedigree. :-?
