Aroura Posted October 26, 2003 Posted October 26, 2003 Ok, I wrote a post on here before about dew claw removal, I had decided to leave Monties front dew claws on until yesterday. I took him for a walk at the Pine Forest and he was running around gleefully until he stumbled, he came back and he had blood all over his feet. I picked him up and sure enough he'd almost ripped one of his dew claws right off and it was hanging loose, bloody and painfully. He's getting desexed tomorrow, so I'm glad in a way that it happend now instead of a weeks time. He yelps when I touch it and I feel bad :( Wish him luck in surgery tomorrow please  Quote
bk_blue Posted October 26, 2003 Posted October 26, 2003 Best of luck for tomorrow Montie and Aroura  Quote
Taurus and Jada Posted October 26, 2003 Posted October 26, 2003 Hope everything goes well.... will be thinking of you! Quote
courtnek Posted October 26, 2003 Posted October 26, 2003 oh POOR Montie....Hope all goes well tomorrow.... Aurora, I apologize if what I said made you decide to keep them. Especially now that he's hurt.....I shoulda kept my mouth shut.... right after that post Laurel ripped a dew pad, her claws are already gone...  Quote
imported_Cassie Posted October 26, 2003 Posted October 26, 2003 You are doing the right thing by getting both done at one time...less stress for your pup...he only has to be put under once...and less stress on your pocket book...the anthesia is what costs the big bucks!!! good luck with the surgery. Follow your post op instructions and if they put in sutures instead of stiches make sure your little guy doesnt lick the area. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted October 26, 2003 Posted October 26, 2003 Good Luck Montie, You will be fine  Quote

Aroura Posted October 26, 2003 Author Posted October 26, 2003 Poor Laurel :o Maybe by bringing it up our poor dogs got jinxed! :-? He's in there now, I'm SO worried!!! My little baby! The vets asked if he was a chihuahua!!! Why does everyone think that? I guess its because he's one of only two papillons in the whole town (and the other uses a different vet!) and his fur on his ears isn't all big and fluffy and because he is on the lowest size of the standard :-? And you know how I was going to get his tooth pulled out? Well the vets were good about it and said they'd look at it, but unless they could see a future problem they'd leave it in because with small dogs it can cause more harm than good by shifting the teeth and making the others loose. They were really good about it actually, didn't try to make me spend more than I had to - I'm glad I changed vets, I mean the other one is good but I think they like their money a little too much :o I'll follow the instructions Cassie, what ever is best for my boy I'll do it! :D (I'm still shaking with worry though :( ) Quote
ellieangel Posted October 27, 2003 Posted October 27, 2003 Fingers crossed here Aroura, don't worry he will be fine  Quote
abker17 Posted October 27, 2003 Posted October 27, 2003 All fingers and paws crossed here, I'm sure he'll be fine though.... :D  :D Quote
Malamum Posted October 27, 2003 Posted October 27, 2003 Good luck Montie. I'm sure he will be fine :D Quote
Aonir Posted October 27, 2003 Posted October 27, 2003 Poor Montie! Better kiss his paws better and give him plenty of attention after the surgery! Quote
Aroura Posted October 27, 2003 Author Posted October 27, 2003 He's back! And he's so cute and docile! He just gives a little tail waggle when he sees me and gives a little squeek if I pick him up. Its so endeering, and every one is "awww"ing over him  My little darling has balls no more  They left the tooth, apparently they didn't see the point in removing it as there were no nerves etc showing and it wasn't loose at all. He just wants to snuggle up, I think I might go to bed soon so I can cuddle him all night 8) Quote
imported_nea Posted October 27, 2003 Posted October 27, 2003 I'm glad hes home and allright! :) Quote

Guest Anonymous Posted October 28, 2003 Posted October 28, 2003 Well I got lots of big snuggles last night, like always he snuggled so close I thought I was gonna squash him all night, then he woke me up early by pawing me in the face saying "mummy, I'm up... lets play!!!" :D :-? He's a little sore this morning, letting out little crys when i pick him up :( Oh well, at least now he can stop worrying about having to chase the girlies around all the time! Quote
courtnek Posted October 28, 2003 Posted October 28, 2003 awwww.....snuggle him all you can!! I just cant see a papillion resembling a Chi....LOL - I think that's funny...    Quote
Aroura Posted October 29, 2003 Author Posted October 29, 2003 LOL, true courtneck. I get so defencive when people ask if he's a chihuahua!!! I guess if you'd never seen a pap before you might think it was a chi cross... but you'd think vets would know!!! :o Quote
Rowie-the-Pooh Posted October 29, 2003 Posted October 29, 2003 but you'd think vets would know!!! :o The last vet I went to thought Rowie was a Rottweiler! I changed vets after that, no doubt! Way to go Montie! I'm so glad he's all better! AND we have another nuetered dog in the world, one less dog that will add to the overpopulation problem... Quote
Aroura Posted October 29, 2003 Author Posted October 29, 2003 A rottweiler :o  Yeah no puppys from this boy. This girl at dog training wants to get into RSPCA work and stuff, but she's got no idea. He 10 month old dog just had a litter of pups!!! Quote
