imported_Kat Posted October 20, 2003 Posted October 20, 2003 Last year we were presented with a severely mal-treated lurcher dog called Cory. Cory was brought into us by the USPCA following a public call and looked as if he had been slashed across his muzzle with a knife, and in addition doused in chemicals, probably petrol. I have photos which are very graphic bu real, and I will post them later if msn will stop buggering about. Tomorrow is Cory's case, where we will attempt to have a ban imposed on keeping animals and a hefty fine for Cory's owner. He is a sweet and loving dog and throughout all his treatment was an angel. He is currently in foster but has a forever home awaiting him when the case is over. The owner is protesting that the dog ran away...likely story which we know not to be true from eye witness accounts. Think positive for this boy folks! He deserves a chance more than any dog does right now. Quote
abker17 Posted October 20, 2003 Posted October 20, 2003 Poor Cory, I hope he gets the justice he deserves! :) Can't wait to here how it goes...... :) Quote
Malamum Posted October 21, 2003 Posted October 21, 2003 Lots of positive thoughts for Cory. I hope they throw the book at his former owner  Quote

imported_Kat Posted October 21, 2003 Author Posted October 21, 2003 Well as predicted it was tough. We were in from 9.15 until just after 11, and at one point I thought his defence lawyer was winning it putting forward arguments that the dog had run away etc. I was nearly kicked to contempt :P. Started arguing over him and wouldn't let him speak and was threatened lol. Exact words were " Miss Nicholl if you can not control these outbursts then I will be forced to put you into contempt for a cooling off period" :P  Anyway the jury deliberated came back with a guilty decision and the judge gave a 20 year ban on keeping animals, Quote
jen Posted October 24, 2003 Posted October 24, 2003 i`m sooooooooo pleased that that b*****d got a guilty verdict, it`s a pity that the law dosen`t impose prison sentances for cruelty cases  I`m so glad Cory can go to his forever home now, he`s been through so much. One of my dogs is a lucher, he`s been with us 7yrs now, but we got him 7yrs ago from a rescue, he had been abused, he had been virtually skinned alive by some evil, cruel b*****d`s    . But from the day we rescued him, Shaddow(our lurcher) has never looked back, he`s our special boy and we love him with all our hearts. Shaddow has such a beautiful loving, soppy nature how anyone could have ever done what they did to him i`ll never know or understand. So i really feel for Cory and hope he`s found his forever home like Shaddow did, filled with love and happiness as he so truly deserves it, bless him. Quote
marion Posted October 24, 2003 Posted October 24, 2003  :D Have a happy life now Cory, you deserve it. :D  Jen, you always manage to make me cry with your words.   Quote
jen Posted October 25, 2003 Posted October 25, 2003  sorry Marion , i don`t mean too, honest . i just speak from the heart  Quote

courtnek Posted October 25, 2003 Posted October 25, 2003 WOOOO HOOOOOOO!!!! Good for you and Cory!!! you did a wonderful thing and should be proud of yourself! Most people are afraid to argue with lawyers.... I hope his community service involves cleaning up after miscreant dog owners who dont bring their bags with them..... :evilbat: :evilbat: Quote
