imported_nea Posted October 20, 2003 Posted October 20, 2003 I know I've heard some people suggest books before, but I can't remember where. I'm giong to buy a few (or at leeast one or two  ) dog books now soon. What are the best ones? I want at leats one training book. I thinhk someone said sometime that "So your dogs not Lassie" or something like that was good. I'm looking at it at Amazon now. It does seem good. But I also know that once someone posted something about a horrid book, but it had gotten good reveiws from people still. So I was wondering, what books that you have/know of are the most usefull? Yes, that's my dog training bible, it's an excellent book! :D Quote
barkerxavierr Posted August 13, 2025 Posted August 13, 2025 I'd definitely recommend "The Other End of the Leash" by Patricia McConnell - it really changed how I understand dog behavior and communication. "Don't Shoot the Dog" by Karen Pryor is also fantastic for positive reinforcement training methods that actually work. Stay away from dominance-based books like anything by Cesar Millan - they're outdated and can actually make behavioral issues worse. Quote
