Guest Anonymous Posted October 11, 2003 Posted October 11, 2003 I'm trying to find an ori pei puppy. Can anyone help me?! Thanks Quote
Black GSD Posted October 11, 2003 Posted October 11, 2003 Why? Aren't there enough mixed breeds in the world without encouraging people to breed more? Because after all that is what an Ori Pei is, a MIXED breed. Quote
pei obssessed Posted October 11, 2003 Posted October 11, 2003 DogPaddle napisaĆ(a):What is the ori half of the mix? pug Quote
DogPaddle Posted October 11, 2003 Posted October 11, 2003 Ah, thank-you! So this is for people who think that if they cross a pei with a pug they'll just get a smaller pei? Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted October 11, 2003 Posted October 11, 2003 Here's an informational link about them... http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/oripei.htm :o And some pictures.. Some breeders (I have no clue what they are like, as I just found them on a Ori Pei page) http://www.iowapetbreeders.com/oripeibreeders.htm I looked for rescues, but nothing came of it :( Quote
pei obssessed Posted October 11, 2003 Posted October 11, 2003 That's right, DogPaddle! and, like the cockapoo for example, they also think that by crossing a pei with a pug, you're gonna get rid of the potential health problems of both breeds  Also, it is relatively common with the Shar-pei to get entropion (rolling in of the eye lids) and need an operation for that. With the bulgy eyes of pugs, that problem could be countered--except it doesn't always work like that, that is, we can't choose the good traits of one breed and good traits of the other one and then mix them together. So, what I'd say to somebody looking for an ori-pei is: get a pug if you want a really small dog, or look for a mini shar-pei. There are shar-pei breeders who also breed 15-17 inches shar-pei and they can give you a size guarantee that you won't end up with a 20 inch tall shar-pei. With Ori-pei there is no guarantee regarding their size, as puppies from the same litter can vary quite a lot in size... Quote
courtnek Posted October 11, 2003 Posted October 11, 2003 why would they call a Pug an "Ori"? thanks Quote

Guest Anonymous Posted October 11, 2003 Posted October 11, 2003 Maybe they wanted a name that stood apart? Or they couldnt name it Pug because the Pug people got pugly about it? LOL Sorry had too! Quote
