Guest Anonymous Posted October 9, 2003 Posted October 9, 2003 So when I left for work today, I put Jaeden in my bedroom, Brooklyn had the run of the house and Tydo was in the dog run. Now Brooklyn has been letting Jaeden out of the bedroom the last few days. He is turning the door knob, I assume and then they hang out together all day. I then put a latch (a hook and o-screw type one) on the doors. SOOO today I come home and what do I find? Jaeden and Brooklyn wiggling from head to tail...both at the backdoor. Smiling like fools! So I assume that I didn't latch the latch properly, so I relatch it and leave for a bit. Sure enough though...they are BOTH at the back door again. Brooklyn clearly has mastered the latch..BRATS! ALL of them. Anyone want a tricky oaf of a dog? I will even throw in the little one, that acts like she's a perfect angel in the whole thing... Quote
Rowie-the-Pooh Posted October 9, 2003 Posted October 9, 2003 LOL! Silly dogs! That's way too cute! Quote
Lucky Chaos Posted October 10, 2003 Posted October 10, 2003 Thats too cute! Poor Brooklyn must have been so lonely and only wanted a friend to play with! Quote
courtnek Posted October 10, 2003 Posted October 10, 2003     I had a cat that could open any door ever invented, including the front door unless the bolt lock was on.... if they want something bad enough, they'll figure it out!!! sneaky, arent they??? Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted October 10, 2003 Posted October 10, 2003 Sneaky..Tricky...Too smart for their own good..and mine! I was out smarted by my dog! I rent the house we live in and my landlord is pretty good about everything...including allowing me to have three dogs and two cats! But the doors are really old oak..so she asked me to not make anymore renos on them. So I have figure something out..without hurting the doors! I think a well placed baby gate will be in order! Such buggers! I cant help but laugh though..because they both look so proud of themselves, with a hint of guilt! Lucky: The thing is I think that they just sleep all day...together though on the couch. I have a webcam and I watch them sometimes at work just because I always wonder what they do..plus they are ALWAYS causing trouble! Quote
Peng1zrule Posted October 10, 2003 Posted October 10, 2003 I figured out a way to keep my dogs locked up (yes, they can open doors) I put a nail on the outside of the room, nailed it right into the frame of the door...then I took a long peice of string and folded it in two. I made a knot about six inches up the string by pinching the two strings together, and making a single knot with both loose ends right above my fingers (where I was pinching the string) holding the two loose ends, with the loop over the knob, I pull the door tightly shut. Then I make a bow or knot around the nail on the outside of the frame...ta da! the dogs cannot even pull the door far enough open to chew or paw the string, and tied tightly, no one can knock it open from the hallway. Guest Anonymous Posted October 10, 2003 Posted October 10, 2003 Thanks for the tip! I think I might try that. :D Quote
mommacat Posted October 10, 2003 Posted October 10, 2003 Funny Dogs!!! We used to have a black lab that could open her outside kennel, unless we locked it with a padlock!! Then, she decided to try to dig her way out, and bent the chain link fence enough to get out. Sneaky girl! Quote
