Queen Bitch Posted October 9, 2003 Posted October 9, 2003 Sorry, I am too happy about this to put it in the news section. I have been noticeing fliers all over town lately that talk about a missing mini Schnauzer. Every time time I see the fliers I feel bad, because really, how often do lost dogs get found in this neighborhood. Well here you go... Posted on Wed, Oct. 08, 2003 Duluth News Tribune Eh? (a) interj. 1. A sound expressing surprise or inquiry. 2. A column of offbeat tidbits and news you can use. Schnauzer is quite the survivor A scrappy little schnauzer survived 10 days in a hole near Duluth's Central Administration Building before being rescued Tuesday by two school employees. The dog disappeared when Gary Anderson, a long-haul truck driver and architecture buff, was looking at the historic brownstone building after celebrating his birthday in Duluth. He had just dropped a load of steel off and wanted to spend some rest time here with his dog. Chief, the schnauzer, is Anderson's traveling companion. He doesn't have children or a family and, given that he spends most of his time on the road, Chief is with him all the time. "That's my little buddy, my little kid," he said. Chief and Anderson had wandered around town and along the Lakewalk before walking to the Central Administration Building. Anderson had been looking intently at the building when he noticed Chief was missing. "I heard him cry," he said. "He was hanging on for dear life." At first, he thought a group of kids nearby had stolen him. He scoured the area and stayed another four days to staple thousands of fliers around town offering a reward to return Chief. On Tuesday, two school district employees were looking for a place to put a "no smoking" sign and came to a place where some steps had caved in. They saw brown eyes looking out at them. With the help of a net, they pulled a skinny, hungry Chief out of the hole he had been trapped in for 10 days. Anderson, in a phone interview Tuesday night, said he is in Los Angeles waiting for his truck to be repaired. He also is calling every shipper he knows to see if anyone has a load they need a load hauled near here. Quote
