Allright Gang,

We NEED to help out a fellow member on the boards. Angry in Detroit has had an awful thing happen to two of her pits. One is still at the vet receiving medical care, One has to go back today for stitches and more antibiotics...She needs help, So even a dollar, 5 dollars, 10 dollars, What ever you can spare. OK I must be dense. I see a lot of messages asking to help, but not the story itself. I personally want to know what happened....is there a particular thread on that forum that tells the whole story?

Thank you T&J - I will be sending a check, but Angry needs to realize that there is an issue here with her dogs....dont know what started it, but she needs to watch them and make sure it doesnt happen again....these are
animal aggressive dogs...all it would take is one "bad move" on Tia's part to set one of the others off....and I like Pit's...I cant have one because my Lab mix "bitch" (no pun intended) is Queen of the Castle (under me) and no Alphaness will be allowed from another dog....

On another note - do you have a dog named Taurus?

That's what I named my first dog, a Golden Retriever....brings back memories....

Yes I do have a dog named Taurus. He is a 3 1/2 yr old APBT. We named him Taurus because when we first bought him as a puppy, we thought he was a staffordshire bull terrier. We figured bull... Taurus... it seemed to fir. Also, his birthday is MAy 8th, so he really is a Taurus

The Taurean's characteristics are solidity, practicality, extreme determination and strength of will - no one will ever drive them, but they will willingly and loyally follow a leader they trust. No other sign in the zodiac is closer to earth then Taurus. The main objective in leading a Taurean life is primarily (though not entirely) to maintain stability and physical concerns. When you fully understand this, and work toward this end, you will no longer need to blindly reassure yourself with external possessions and comforts. LOL courtnek... that describes Taurus ina nutshell

He is the absolute MOST STUBBORN dog I've ever had the pleasure of living with! He is the most head strong dog I've ever known, if he wants something , he gets it... that's final!

He is also defenitly a lover not a fighter. I've read all these stories about APBT's being dog aggresive with MOST dogs after a certain age. We haven't had that problem AT ALL with him. In fact, he walks away froma fight. If a dog doesn't like him, and growls at him, he just walks the other way. He's only interested in dogs that want to play with him.

He is also by my side 24/7. Like you said with your Taurus, he would never run away. I think the farthest off the property he's ever strayed is 20 feet.

I will probably be slandered for the comments I will make, but however I am used to it working at a Veterinary practice that deals with court cases with the dog warden and USPCA.

I have every sympathy for this person, and even more so for the dogs affected, but it proves a point that dogs are pack animals and like humans they do not have to like every dog they meet. Perhaps this girl didn't notice a behavioural distance within the ranks before but even so leaving 4 dogs alone in the same room is asking for trouble, especially with no mediator as their owner perhaps is.

Dogs have been domesticated for roughly 15,000 years but they are still wild animals and unpredictable. Until this is realised, more dogs left in packs will continue to be injured. Terriers in particular prefer to be solitary or duo animals. They are certainly not a pack animal.

On a different note if the vet was any type of vet that ran a veterinary practice for the sake of the animals, like our practice is, then money wouldn't be an issue.

Several years ago 2 kids brought in a young terrier pup hit by a train. These were kids of 9/10 maybe. They were in such a state and just wanted the wee dog to be "fixed", but explained that they didn't have any money. Money wasn't an issue and my boss pined the puppies leg and rewired his jaw as well as treating him for 2 weeks at the practice. The kids came back 2 weeks later and proudly gave me a money bag of silver coins and explained they had asked all their friends would it be enough to pay for the wee dog. That touched me, and one of the kids Adam now has that little dog and I see him in the park all the time playing with his best friend. Money shouldn't be an issue. Most vet practices charge a consultation fee and all this carry on, so they can damn well afford it.
