Crested Posted October 4, 2003 Posted October 4, 2003 Bella is a monster!!! A very smart and cute monster. If Ben gets a treat. Bella scares him so that he drops it from his mouth so that she can get it. If Ben plays with the active ball and Bella joins the fun. Ben rolls the ball and she eats the treats. Ben's going out. Bella scares him to death and goes out herself. Bella plays with Ben. She sees to it that he turns his back on her and then she jumps on his back so that Ben jums half a meter up in the air only because he's so (bleep) scared of her. Ben tries to sleep. She sees the opportunety to see him jump once more! Ben and Bella get a marrow bone each. Ben doesn't think it's any good but Bella LOOOOOOOOVES hers. Ben thinks hers must be much better then his and tries to get it from her. She growls at him and shows that it's her bone and her alone. After wich she takes Ben's bone and chews on the two instead of just one. When Ben tries to get his own back, Bella gets mad at him and scares him to death! ...after wich she goes and eats the bones again. Now both are hers. So... what to do? Ben seem's to be really blue when he can't even eat without her scaring him to death. She eats HIS food just to tease him. So Ben can't sleep, go out, eat, have treats or play without Bella jumping up on him. He gives up everything and then he's really sad about it. What should I do? /Crest Quote
ellieangel Posted October 4, 2003 Posted October 4, 2003 Maybe you could give hime some time out from her. Do you have a stairgate to separate them for a few short spells every day ? Quote
Black GSD Posted October 4, 2003 Posted October 4, 2003 Seperate them. seperate play time, seperate feeding spots, let him go out alone. ect... YOU are the boss of that house NOT Bella. And if you don't teach her that NOW it will be that much harder later. If you don't want to crate her, put her on a leash and don't let her get to Ben. He shouldn't have to be tortured by her all of the time, and it is up to YOU to see that it doesn't happen. Also keep in mind that if you don't put a stop to this, one of these days after Ben gets used to her and isn't so afraid anymore, HE may put a stop to her cr@p with his TEETH. And that is NOT something that you want to happen. Quote
Queen Bitch Posted October 4, 2003 Posted October 4, 2003 When we got Ivan, as a nine week old Dalmatian pup, our 10 year old female Dal, Phyliss was slightly misearable. She too didn't know what to make of this small annoying being. We built a gate type door for the kitchen so they could have a time out for each other. It worked pretty well. Quote
marion Posted October 4, 2003 Posted October 4, 2003 Ruby is the same with Rosie, (she doesn't jump on her) if you give them a marrowbone each Ruby will take if from her and lie on it while she chews her own. :x The same with toys or any long lasting treats they have. Usually I am around to supervise and immediately take whatever it is from Ruby and give it back to Rosie. Ruby always finishes her meal before Rosie and then stands there looking at Rosie as if to say "that's mine now" and Rosie will back off, but I make sure that Ruby goes into another room while Rosie finishes her meal in peace. :D Quote
mouseatthebusstop Posted October 4, 2003 Posted October 4, 2003 poor Ben is having a bad time. I would use a baby gate or create to give Ben some peace and quality time with mummy Quote
atghylin Posted October 4, 2003 Posted October 4, 2003 Time outs! They work between species too. Wankel and Felix get several time outs during the day usually when they've started playing too rough with each other. I lock Wankel in the bathroom with his litter box for about a half hour and all is well after he's relised... at least until the next time. Quote
