StarFox Posted October 1, 2003 Posted October 1, 2003 Oh Lordy! What a day!!! Ok..let me recap..went to jury duty and didn't get home till 5:45. Well to get home I have to walk a block from the bus stop. Well I was half way home when I see zebra outside lying in the middle of the sidewalk. I thought this very funny since there were many children around zebra and all the kids where on bikes and I know Zebra HATES bikes. Well getting closer to home I see that there is no leash attached to zebra and neither of my parents are ouside. So at this point I'm in full panic mode wondering why zebra is outside not on a leash. Well I run across the street and stop dead in my tracks. The kids all point at the dog and say that they found him. Only then did I relize that it was NOT zebra but another dog that looks very similar to him. Oh my dog I nearly had a heartattack in the middle of the sidewalk. Oh I was soo relived that it wasn't zebra! Well anyways all the kids tell me that this stray dog is hurt...so I walk up to it and start speaking to it very nicely and stick my hand out so he could smell it. Well he takes a sniff and lies back down. All the while these kids are riding there bikes around in circles around the dog and I. So I tell them all (about 6 kids in all) to stop riding the bike and stand away from the dog and DO NOT TRY TO PET IT! Oh lord! These kids are stupid (sorry that may sound harsh but it's the truth). Ok so then the kids tell me that he might have been hit by a car because he is walking "funny". So then I get real worried because a stray dog with an injury is never predictable or safe. So I tell all the kids to move away, again! ANd I told one of the boys to go get my dad so he could get me a water bowl and food. Well my dad throws this BIG stink about me getting Bit by this dog and how it's not safe! Well duh! It's not like I was putting my hand in it's mouth or anything! Sheesh Ok so then I get some water and this dog is soooooo thirsty that he drinks half the bowl. And I give him a few treats witch he sniffs at and leaves on the ground. Well I wanted to get him off of the sidewalk so a safer place and so I coxed him onto the lawn..which isn't any safer but oh well. Well after a few mins he decided that he dosn't want to lie on the grass anymore and lies in the middle of the driveway....right as my mom is getting home. SO my mom backs up the driveway and the dog runs out of the way..and my mom pulls up next to me asking me why I don't have zebra on a leash! Then she relized it was a stray that LOOKED like Zebra. Well we finally got the stray in the back yard with MUCH coxing with food and water...this poor dog would bearly walk. At this time it's appox. 6:30 so we call the humane society and they are closed!! :x Closed at 6 Bloody 30! So then we call the SPCA...and they are closed! So we have to call the god awful animal contol! Uhh...who are the worst and put all the dogs the catch to sleep. Well I didn't just want to leave the stray out there so I stayed with hiim and he let me pet him and scratch his belly. He is kinda shy but very nice. Well Animal control said they would be there by 11...oh great so that means that i have to stay outside and watch the dog untill they come. Well while waiting I was looking at him closely and his ears seem to have had a "fly Strike"...his back was messed up prety badly so much that he could bearly walk...a bunch of matts in his hair...stuff all in his teeth. But overall very freindly. I think he is beautiful because he looks so much like Zebra...so I decided to call him Senor Guapo (Mr. Handsom) . Senor Guapo Looks old..maybe 5 to 8 years old..he is a german shepherd/chow mix. From his head to the middle of his back he Looks EXACTLY like zebra same coloring and marking on his eyes..from the middle to his tail he is a golden colour and looks like a back part of a chow. Well by that time It was 8 o'clock and my mom came out to talk to me and started to pet the dog..she was just messing around and she said "You look like Zebra! Are you Zebra's Daddy...did you come to look for him?" and all of a sudden Senor Guapo jumps up and cocks his head from side to side like he is thinking. It was soo werid! :drinking: Well it just kept getting later and later so I decided to put Senor on the front porch because that is the only part of the house that is closed off and has a gate...The problem was getting him up 3 small stairs because he couldn't and wouldn't walk up them himself. Well after SEVERAL tries at trying to push him up a ramp, pick him up while on a blanket and roll him on a mat....we put a blanket in between his legs and lifted and pulled (oh yea I got a leash and collar on him with no fuss!!) . Uh so after 30 mins of hard work we finally got him on the front porch and put a big peice of carpet on the ground for him...a water bowl next to him and a tennis ball that I don't think he knows what to do with. So now It's 11:45 and he is sleeping on our porch..animal contol never came. So I'm goiing to call the humane society tomarrow morning before I leave for jury duty. I'm almost positive that they are going to put poor Senor Guapo to sleep because I know he has something wrong with his back. But he is a wonderful dog and I just hope he knows that even if no one else loved him or took care of him that he knows that we love him. Oh and I'll try to take some pics of him tonight so I can post them later on. Quote
StarFox Posted October 1, 2003 Author Posted October 1, 2003 They Just took Senor Guapo!!!!!!! I was outside checking on him before I went to bed and the animal control truck pulled up in front of my house at One In the F-Ing Morning!! 1:00am! Can you bloody believe that! Well not only did they come at such a god forsaken hour but he manhandled Senor!!! I don't think this animal conrol officer could have cared less if Senor was hurt or not!! :x When they pulled up I was petting Senor on the face! So what does the evil Bastard of an animal controll officer do?! He bloody muzzles him! Oh my dog! Then when the dog starts to kick he yells at him "Oh no! your not gunna bite me! Not with the kinda day I had!"...what?! With the kinda day you had?! I don't give a rats arse if he had to deal with rabbid dogs all day long at least he wasn't hit by a car and at least he could walk! Ok so then this AC "officer" get the control sick and says "well he is walking he looks fine to me"....Aggh! He was only walking because the Freakin guy was pulling him! So then he drags Senor down the stairs and shoves him into a cage and leaves! Oh ...arg! I'm soooo furiously mad right now! And my mom is like "it's ok mel". No it's not bloody well ok! That dog is a damn good dog and even when we were trying to get him up the stairs to the porch he NEVER once growled at us! Aghh! If that guy wants to manhandle something I suggest he go work for the county jail! Oh I wish I could just... :chainsaw1: :2gunfire:  :eviltongue: :madgo: :bad-words: that supid Animal control officer. Quote
ellieangel Posted October 1, 2003 Posted October 1, 2003 Oh sweetie you must be feeling horrible :( There was really nothing more you could do but I know if you're anything like me this will haunt you for ages :( Don't be angry at animal control (although he does sound like a complete jerk) be angry at the ex-owners who didn't care enough to keep him safe  Actually be angry at both, you will get it out of your system quicker  Do they always euthanase the animals ? Could you ring later to see how he is getting on ? Quote
Sanvean Posted October 1, 2003 Posted October 1, 2003 *Hugs* It sounds like an awfully hard day! Please just remember that Senor at the very least had a few happy hours with you and your family being so kind to him. I hope that all goes well and they don't put him down, though. Quote
bk_blue Posted October 2, 2003 Posted October 2, 2003 Oh dear what a horrible experience. I really feel for you and Senor, crossing my fingers that he doesn't get pts, but at least he had a few hours where someone cared for him. Quote
