courtnek Posted September 24, 2003 Posted September 24, 2003 My son is trying to get in good with Laurel, she is somwhat afraid of him. He took her and Freebe outside, in the front yard, where he can sit in the garage and play with them and watch them, and fastened them to leads on the fence. The leads allow them access to the yard, but not to the sidewalk or beyond. The dogs remain on our property.... Some guy came by with a GSD offlead who ran up to Kyle (IN THE GARAGE) and snarled. ON MY PROPERTY!! BOTH dogs reacted, Freebee was snarling and Laurel was baying (she is secondary to Freebee, but will respond to any situation) and the GSD decided to pick on Laurel. He snarled and she went BALLISTIC!! She snarled and bayed and warned him off many times over... looked more nasty then I would have expected, since she has been so timid... He backed off, and the owner SAID IWAS TO BLAME, SINCE MY DOGS WERE TIED OUT FRONT!! I said "WHY ISNT YOUR DOG ON A LEASH? THERE ARE LEASH LAWS HERE..." AND HE SAID 'He never needed a leash before...." I called the police and filed a complait. FOR ONCE they agreed with me... Quote
Malamum Posted September 24, 2003 Posted September 24, 2003 Good for you Courtnek. For a second there I thought the jerk was taking you to court and I was astounded. Glad it's the other way round. Quote
mommacat Posted September 24, 2003 Posted September 24, 2003 OOOHH Courtnek - how maddening for you!! :x :x :x At least for once the police believed the RESPONSIBLE pet owner, not th goof off!! :-? Quote
Horsefeathers! Posted September 24, 2003 Posted September 24, 2003 Geez, what a dumbaxe. Surely, this is an open and shut kind of thing. I mean, your dogs didn't actually attack him and his dog was running loose and on YOUR property. Here's the thing that scares me about stuff like this. I am always SO worried about p*ssing someone off and having them come by late at night, or sometime when I'm not home, and doing something like throwing poison bait over the fence. I'm not afraid of confrontation, per se, but I would be worried about people seeking revenge on me through my dogs. Maybe this creep won't do something like that, but just be extra careful. He sounds like a real jackass. :x Quote
StarFox Posted September 24, 2003 Posted September 24, 2003 Oh what a Jack@ss! It sounds like a open and shut case..but you just never know with the American Justice System. If there is ONE thing I learned from being on Jury duty is Writting everything down! So maybe you could write the time and date that this occured and all the specifics of everything that happend. You can actually submit your notes as evidence of a crime. Oh well Just an idear! Quote
courtnek Posted September 24, 2003 Author Posted September 24, 2003 It wont go to court. The dog didnt bite, although he threatened, and if it's a first offense the worst they'll do is write him a warning ticket. I will have to canvas the yard before I let the dogs out, just to b esure though. why are people so blatantly stupid???? Quote
mouseatthebusstop Posted September 25, 2003 Posted September 25, 2003 it might make the owner think next time Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted September 25, 2003 Posted September 25, 2003 Way ta go Court! What a jerk! Oooh, I would have givin him a real piece of my mind and "kindly" explained to him about the leash laws and how his dog OBVIOUSLY needs one ect ect. I tend to argue with people a lot though  Quote
