midori115 Posted September 16, 2003 Posted September 16, 2003 Ok. so I'm in the process of changing Oscar's food and he had diarhea all day yesterday. Is this fairly normal or should I be worried? Quote
Mary's Mama Posted September 16, 2003 Posted September 16, 2003 It is normal but the way to avoid it is to very slowly add the new food to the old. Some dogs are more sensitive than others. Some require a transition very gradually over weeks, some only a few days. In this case I would feed one meal of the old food only. Then start over, add maybe 3-5 kibbles of the new. Do that for two days, then add 3-5 more and so on and so on. It may take a while but the first few days are usually the worst. Quote
midori115 Posted September 16, 2003 Author Posted September 16, 2003 thanks! I was up to about half and half, but this morning I went bach to 75% old food. and I just went home for lunch and he went and it was normal! a little soft, but good. I'll just move a little slower. thanks! Quote
mydogroxy Posted September 16, 2003 Posted September 16, 2003 i know you're supposed to change food over time, but i've found that for roxy it just doesn't work. when i've changed her food in the past, mixing the two (in the correct proportions) had always caused prolonged yuckpoop. now i just make the switch and everything is good.
