midori115 Posted September 3, 2003 Posted September 3, 2003 My landlord is the sweetest man in the whole world and loves my puppy too but i live in the city and there is a mouse problem everywhere. He wants to put a sonic rodent repellent device in the house. He swears it won't affect Oscar at all, but i am a bit hesitant. Does anyone have any experience with this kind of things? Any input would be great! Thanks. Quote
Rosebud Posted September 3, 2003 Posted September 3, 2003 :-? It won't hurt Oscar but it won't get rid of the mice either. Quote
midori115 Posted September 3, 2003 Author Posted September 3, 2003 that's the other thing i was afraid of .... any suggestions? Quote
Sanvean Posted September 3, 2003 Posted September 3, 2003 Well, you could use those humane traps. Or if those don't work, the old-fashioned mouse traps (though I love mice and just hate to kill them!). Whatever you do, don't use glue traps...they're are horribly inhumane. Quote
ferky1 Posted September 3, 2003 Posted September 3, 2003 I know that I am in the minority, but a sonic rodent repeller has worked for me in the past. We lived on the 23rd floor of an apartment building and every night mice would wake us by scratching behind the walls. Eventually they gnawed through some molding and gained access. After an unpleasant experience with a sticky trap (kindof funny story), we bought the sonic and aimed it at the hole they had made. Whatever that white box emitted, it convinced the mice to go elsewhere. After a few weeks the repeller was unplugged and left unplugged and the mice were back a few weeks later. We kept that thing plugged in after that until we moved out! I have no idea about its impact on family pets, we didn't have one then. I can tell you though that the packaging clearly stated that housepets are totally unaffected. Quote
