I think that you all went a bit over the top,the poor lady came on this site and all you could do is critize her, everyone has to start somewhere and learn as they go along, we all make mistakes which im sure you all did.
I would just like to say good luck to the PITBULL LOVER and i hope everything goes well for your bitch during the rest of her pregnancy.

Simon, I agree with you that some of the posts are a bit harsh. But I disagree that "everyone has to start somewhere." This woman bred two dogs -- of a breed that should only be bred by the MOST experienced of breeders -- with no thought as to the most basic elements of whelping. That does certainly lead one to the assumption that she doesn't know much about health, temperament or conformation, either. The last thing the world needs is more pitbull puppies who are badly bred. I don't know about you, but in our area, we're drowning in them (and I don't even live in a particularly large city). No other group in the area takes them -- and my little no-kill group can't handle all of unwanted ones, by any means.

While I have no intentions of breeding dogs in the future, I would certainly hope that I would do extensive reading and find an experienced mentor before undertaking something of the kind.

Yes, I know we went over the top, but I don't neccessarily see that as a BAD thing. Some of us feel VERY strongly about puppies being brought into this world, especially puppies from inexperienced people that will probably have horrible lives ahead of them. I don't see any reason why we shouldn't have said what we did, I don't think we were over the top harsh either - we were just stating our opinions and if you don't want to hear oppinions why come to a forum?
What I do think we did though, was give CONSTRUCTIVE critisism, how the hell is anyone going to learn anything if everyone acts all air headed and is like "oh, you let your dogs breed and you know nothing about them, good for you". We may have stated our honest oppinion, but we also tried to give our advice, its not our fault she didn't come back and take it. Only goes to show how irrisponsible she really is, not even prepared to take the advice when given to her, well if she can't take a bit of critisism over the net I'd hate to see how she goes homing those pups! First bad response she gets she'll probably run from and just take the easy way out instead - dump the pups.
Sorry if I sound a bit mental at the mo, I've just had enough of irrisponsible breeders who aren't even going to stick around for the advice when its given to them. We spent good time on replying to her post and gave some good advice, the least she could have done was acknowledge it  Excuse my mood, I'm not a morning person!

i guess i should reply to this since i was definitely one of the harsher respondents. it is completely understandable that people make mistakes and learn as they go. but it is unacceptable for a person to own two, sexually mature, unaltered dogs with no means to provide medical care. it is also more of an issue for me because the dogs in question are pit bulls (my own dog is an abpt). there are literally thousands of pit bulls in shelters, dying everyday because of irresponsible "breeders." these kinds of breeding practices are the reason we hear about so many unstable pit bulls attacking people. so in my eyes, this kind of crap, DIRECTLY effects me. when i walk down the street with roxy and people cross to avoid her or when i take her to a local ice cream shop am publicly berated for choosing to own a pit bull, it is because of the negative image people like her are creating for pit bulls.

it's fine to make mistakes, but no ok for people to be totally irresponsible. and it's even worse when others make excuses for and support people like that.
