courtnek Posted August 29, 2003 Posted August 29, 2003 I came down to the office, and found Freebee under the desk, sniffing thru the garbage.... Altho never trained for "what are you doing under there?" she responded immediaely and left the underside of the desk... being a mom, I lectured..... "you're NOT allowed under there, y'know..." She got his look of "uh, oh, I'm BUSTED!!" and walked away and layed down.... I'm STILL cracking up....      Quote

Rowie-the-Pooh Posted August 29, 2003 Posted August 29, 2003    Rowie was once sniffing at some plant pots, which I KNOW she isn't supposed to go near because she steals them, and hides them in her "secret hiding place" (her dog house lol!). Anyway, so I said "Rowie!" and she turned and looked at me and I SWEAR I can hear her saying :"I didn't do anything mommy!" LOL! Quote
sheltielover Posted August 29, 2003 Posted August 29, 2003  Too cute...Honey and Licky are the same way..... Quote
Rosebud Posted August 29, 2003 Posted August 29, 2003 :D Great story Courtnek. One day when I was getting ready for work Sally was actually whining about me leaving. I had to have a talk with her. I told her No baby doll you have to stay, mommy has to work. She hung her head like but please so I explained to her, Mommy no work, Sally no dinner, I have to work so you can have dinner. When I got home that night she went straight past me and on to the truck to see if there was anything in the truck, it was like she was looking for what mommy went and got for dinner. Fortunately I did have to go to the store to get kibble that day and she was a happy girl. Quote
Sanvean Posted August 29, 2003 Posted August 29, 2003 LOL! I do the same thing with Macy. She stays in her x-pen while we're at work, and she always puts her little paws on the side of it and tilts her head and looks at me when I'm about to walk out the door. I tell her, "Mommy has to go to work so she can buy puppy food, but she'll be back at lunchtime to cuddle you!" She also likes to bark when people walk past the house. As we live in a subdivision, this happens quite often. We scold her if she barks more than a couple times, and she always gives us this reproachful little look like, "Fine. I warned you -- don't blame me when they come kill us all!" Quote
DogPaddle Posted August 30, 2003 Posted August 30, 2003 "Fine. I warned you -- don't blame me when they come kill us all!" If the boys are kicking up a racket about something they see past the yard and I tell them "NO" or "Quiet" they may stop barking but they then move on to pacing and worried whinning and going back and forth between me and the patio door. I have to tell them "OK, that's enough now, I see them." and then their fine. I guess the just need to know that I know what's up, doing their job. Quote

Daisysmom Posted August 30, 2003 Posted August 30, 2003 They know when they are doing something wrong  I have been coming down to the kitchen trash can over-turned lately :x and, as soon as I walk in the room, the tail goes between the legs!!!!!! JAKE is too smart!! The other two just would accept that the can had a lid on it, but he figured out there's stuff under that lid  Quote
courtnek Posted August 31, 2003 Author Posted August 31, 2003 I see this as proof every day that they are responding to pack instinct. They KNOW they're not supposed to be there, but they're going to check it out anyway. I've seen video's of wolf cubs going through discarded bones from the kill, and looking sneaking and frightened, but doing it anyway. Eventually mom catches them, and stands over them and growls, and they back away and roll over....OH NO BUSTED!! I really think it's part of their training in the pecking order. They will try, no matter what...someone just has to put them "in their place..."   Quote
