:D

I had a kickboxing lesson today, with Deez, her sis, our other friend and her sis too. After the lesson, we where all sitting on the steps leading to the building, just chatting and wiping the sweat off our faces, and waiting for our parents to pick us up, when suddenly an adorable little ginger kitten comes up to us, meowing and begging us for food. It was the cutest little thing, and followed us everywhere! It was pretty tame, for a stray. Time went by and Deez and the rest left, and I was sitting all alone on the steps, when the ginger kitty comes up to me, meowing again. Now, I have loads of experience with cats. Especially strays. I used to rescue strays, and had my own kitties. Anywhoo, the kitten came up to me, but I ignored it, making my hands into fists in the process, so the kitten would think I had a a treat for it. Pretty soon it came up to me, and started sniffing my hand. Even though I didn't have any food in my hand, I think the kitty liked to be touched by human hands. When it finally warmed up to me, I began petting it. Slowly at first, and really calmly. To make a long story short, by the time my mom was there to pick me up, the kitten was purring in my lap! It followed me all the way to my door, and when I shut the door, it gave me the most sad kitty eyes ever. The kind of face that sais :"Where are you going?". My heart shattered into a million pieces. This kitty was too tame and sweet to be a stray! I thought of him all the way home, and am still thinking about him!

That's how I made a new friend. But just being his friend isn't enough for me (not in that way :o), I want to rescue him, maybe even foster him, and find hime a home! Do you think it's the right thing to do? My kickboxing classes are in a compound, in the teacher's home, and I'm thinking what if the kitten is his or someone else in the compound's kitten, but without a collar? :-? That isn't possible, right? I mean, it was their responsibility to put a collar on the kitten!

My plan so far is to take him to the BSPCA. If they're over crowded, I was thinking the un-thinkable. Fostering him. But with a year old Golden, how can I keep the peace? I know how to take care of a dog and a cat, but not both of them at once. Not intoducing them anyway. Any suggestions?

(by the way, the kickboxing teacher saw the kitten, and didn't seem to recognize it or call it or anything, so I don't think it's his kitty)

Awwww, your such a sweet heart for wanting to foster this kitty.

What does your mom think of this idea.
I would say to take him in, and put some flyers up around where you picked him up from.
And if nobody claims him, then i would say to find a forever home for him.

Thanks Angel!

I still haven't told my mom. It all depends on her mood... :-? (eek!) I'll look around the compound, it's really small, just one road, so I guess I'll ask my teacher if this kitty belongs to anyone he knows in the compound... :D

I can't wait till sunday! I'll just need to get a cat carrier from the BSPCA... :D

I agree with asking your teacher and fellow students in your kick boxing class who owns the kitten, if no one knows then I would certainly take the kitten home and put an alert on the radio telling that you have found a kitten and give a description. Just because the kitten does not have a collar does not mean it does not have a home...I see very few cats or kittens which wear collars...especially if they go out doors...I used to get break a way collars for my cats (I have never been successful at keeping my cats indoor only... ) I was going threw about 3 collars a week per cat...it just got too expensive...and there is no way I would put any thing but a break away collar on an outdoor cat...if they are breaking them off...just what are they getting hung up on...scary.
I would have the little kitten examined by a Vet before bringing it into your home...just in case...although most cat diseases cannot be spread to your dog...there are some which can....better safe than sorry...have the vet look at the kittens tail also.
If you consider keeping the kitten your self...just give your Golden time to adjust to the new room mate...To introduce your kitten to your dog, just keep things real low key...I would definately keep your Golden on a lead when introducing to your kitten...and it will probably be the kitten who freaks out..if its old enough to have an affectionate side then it will also have a great big fearful side...it may consider your Golden a horrible beast and hide...give the kitten its own space....I had to put up baby gates to keep my Rottie away from my cats...it took her 2 years to become desensitized to them....and as the saying goes curiosity killed the cat....my cats started laying in front of the baby gate staring at my Rottie...the excitement slowly wore off.
Good luck.... I have rescued many cats and they have always made wonderful pets.

Thanks Cassie! :D Thanks Angel! :D

I just remembered that I have seen the kitty before! :o With a brother/sister, a tabby kitten. Today the tabby wasn't there. This is getting confusing! I think I'll put up fylers and ask everyone at class and the teacher too!

Thanks everyone for the info! I really hope this works out.... :D

Rowie, you're an

If you do decide to take her home, Goldens are generally very good with other animals. Introduce them with the kitty in the carrier at first, then,
while supervised, let them meet thru a baby gate. It will take the kitty
longer to get used to Rowie then Vice Versa....

putting up signs and stuff is always a good idea too

thanks Rowie, just for being YOU!!
