Oh gosh, I'm so sorry for this dog. I hope its not too late.
I cross posted this in hopes of finding something, just hope the dog can hold on.

Any news?
Did they contact the local and national breed clubs? Maybe it is something common to the breed?

Oh my! The poor dog! And poor owner!

Ellie, would you or your friend happen to have the "Ultimate Dog Care, A Complete Veterniary Guide" book? It seems like a weird question, but I got if off the internet and it is great for situations like this.

I found someting!

Heaemophila?? Wait, it's also the Von Willbrand's disease that came out negative.

Okay, I looked up inherited diseases in the Airedale. So far I have: nothing. :-?

I will look up bleeding, and get back to you.

"Does he have any other symptoms? like spots on the skin?
could be some sort of auto immune crash, eg thrombocytopenia.
(usually treated w/ vitamin K & steroids)"

"I hope the vet can find out what is happening...I recently lost my beloved chow-chow to an intestinal aneurysm (sp) and it happened so quickly there was no time to save him...bled out from the rectum. He was only 4 years old...my thoughts are with you. Marty"

" did the vet rule out DIC?"
