I do a lot of animal transports of dogs from shelters to new homes and kill shelters to no-kill facilities.

I have met a lot of nice people....BUT...sadly...there are creeps everywhere

There are some people in Nebraska and North Dakota that are misusing this system, taking dogs, and selling dogs.

We have one situation now where help is needed. If anyone is in the area and can help..please let me know.

We need someone to check and see where a dog is and if this dog is ok.

The dog was being transported by ETOSHA from Texas to Fargo, North Dakota. The woman decided she did not want the dog after she got it because she claimed it was not a purebred collie. In spite of the contract, she gave the dog away to someone else. They are refusing to give the dog back.

We need someone in the Fargo area that can check this out. YOu can contact ETOSHA on their web site.

let me play devils advocate - is this such a bad thing? The person who refuses to return the dog? Is she being good to it, and keeping cuz she like it?

I guess I need more detail. If the dog is in a decent home, why not leave him there?

thanks.

Hey...guest is really six jollydogs...can't get this forum to take it...anyway....the concern is that the person taking it is involved in dog selling. She is alledgedly involved with another person who has been banned from a lot of groups for this.

The woman should not have been given the dog because the contract stated if the person who adopted it...did not want it...it went back to ETOSHA...this is a common part of contracts to protect the dog from winding up who knows were.

My first concern is to insure the dog is safe.

Unfortunately, the contract may not hold up in court. We had a case a few years ago where one of our dogs was stolen from an adoption. We took it to court but could not get the dog back -- only the amount that the adoption fee would have been. And our contract was written by a judge who is a member of our group! (Of course, in this case, the person did not sign the contract, because he stole the dog, but it seems like it would unfortunately work the same way.)
