Bentleythewonderdog Posted July 29, 2003 Posted July 29, 2003 I have a very picky eater. I have been feeding my Maltese Nutro and have started switching him over to Natural Balance. He loved the Natural Balance (at first) when I opened the bag he got very excited and stuck his head inside and gobbled it up. I started mixing the Natural Balance with the Nutro to phase him out of eating Nutro. Now he eats only the Nutro kibbles and leaves the Natural Balance kibble in the bowl. He LOVES the Natural Balance roll but I don't want to feed him the roll exclusively. I have found another brand that supposedly appeals to finicky small breed dogs, they also have food for larger breeds. Has anyone tried a brand called Royal Canin ? The formula I want to try is Royal Canin Mini. Some of you know so much about food and nutrition that I figured you could advise me. Quote
Kiger Posted July 29, 2003 Posted July 29, 2003 If you can get it, I haven't seen a dog yet that doesn't inhale that Chicken Soup food - we have picky eaters. Quote
Daisysmom Posted July 29, 2003 Posted July 29, 2003 I thought Natural Balance was made by Royal Canin. That's the holistic food, right? I feed Jake that, but there are a couple out there with similar names  Quote

Daisysmom Posted July 29, 2003 Posted July 29, 2003 Yep!! Just looked, mine is Natural Blend!!! It's made by Royal Canin. I think it is a great food!! Quote
alicat613 Posted July 30, 2003 Posted July 30, 2003 I have found some of the Royal Canin foods to be far too rich, but it is mostly a good company. Natural Balance is made by Dick Van Patten, the dad from 8 is Enough. That and the Chicken Soup for the Pet Lovers Soul are probably the most reasonably priced. Natural Balance is pretty easy to find, Chicken Soup seems only to be sold in the boonies!! I tried to get it for my cats and decided that having to drive several hours when I live in the city is ridiculous. Wellness Puppy is extremely palatable and small enough for small breed pups. And just about anything is better than Beneful. Quote

Around here, it's the only one I can find without driving all the way across the county. Doesn't matter anyway I guess since I can't use it anymore. Now I meet a BARF distributor in the Starbuck's parking lot and we exchange goods. I always feel like I'm doing something illegal. LOL Quote
