Mei-Mei is SOOOOOOO RIGHT!!!! What a combination.

And what is up w/ the mother?

I would get on the computer & find out everything possible about your breeds & then I would contact someone who has had them for a long time & be ready to learn!!! With emailing now it is easy to have the outreach for education you need. You can't know too much about your baby. Somedays I've spent hours & hours learning & then start again the next day.

Just keep asking questions until you feel comfortable.

Bestest Wishes :infinity:

Thank so much for your reply, it has been of great help. I have owned dogs before, last breed i had was a Labrador and she passed away of natural causes. We are training the pup as best we can. We are mainly concern about his attitude towards other dogs (once he grows up) but we have been told that the best medice for that is to socialise as much as possible so that he gets used to seeing different people and animals. So far its going ok, (he

I would get started with puppy classes as soon as your pup has all his shots, so he will be used to being around other dogs. In the meantime, make sure your baby has lots of positive experiences with people of all ages, other animals, etc. I think the book "The Perfect Puppy" has a lot of great suggestions for socializing pups.

And don't forget to post photos! ;)

Welcome Moni.... :)

I just opened up my dog book to look up the Caucasian. I also opened the Dogomania Breeds page. The Caucasian as Mei-Mei said is no joke! My advice would be to research, research, research! Go to the Dogomania breeders page and find some good breeders who would be willing to educate you about the Caucasian. Also go to Dog Shows and talk to breeders/showers there about the Caucasian. Keep your ears open...breeders know the best about their dog breed, more then a Dog Encyclopidia would ever know!

The next step is to socialize, socialize, socialize! It's good that he knows who is boss. Take him to as many places you ca. Maybe even to work! Get him used to loud noises, and strange people coming over. Start puppy classes as soon as he gets his shots, and get him used to other dogs sniffing him etc. Since he is so young (40 days) he has not learned some of the things he is supposed to learn from littermates and mothers. Some behavriol issues might arise.

The last step is all the love you can give! Every dog breed loves love, and attention!

Good Luck and please keep us updated!

And we would love pics! :D

What I can say about Caucasian. It is large and aggressive dog, hard training :diablotin: . He was created for the guard only and traing to breed the large pitiless dog, which can kill the wolf and uninvited guest. But he is good with your owner, if are good trained.
So, I wish you to be patient in the training your dog. Don't stimulate the aggression! And I hope he was inherit a good character of the father, and good of the mother .
However, Caucasian is beautiful dogs.

It is a shame that someone did not care enough about the dogs to insure that this crossbreeding did not happen.
Now that it has, you have consider what you may have on your hands. Both breeds have guardian instincts that come from years/centuries of breeding. You can't *love* that out of a dog. The breed genetics are there no matter how cute the puppy is.

My advise would be to socialize this pup as much as possible and definitely the obedience classes.

I find it most annoying when someone calls with an anatolian or akbash or other LGD breeds and tells me that they have had this dog since it was a puppy and now it is scaring them or challenging them. It barks all the time and it dominates everyone in the home. The first thing I ask is: Did you research the breed before you got it? Many people bring these dogs into the home and many of the dogs adapt just fine to that environment, but many more don't, and end up in rescue.

People don't realize just how domineering these dogs can be. They have a strong personality! You are going to have to make sure that you can be the alpha over this pup from the very beginning.

Good luck with the puppy.
