DogPaddle Posted July 18, 2003 Posted July 18, 2003 Yahoo! I am finally making headway in being able to call ONLY 1 dog at a time. Usually when I say "Kavik" or "Zaphod" "Come" both dogs come. I have been working with putting both dogs in a sitstay and then calling just one, I reward the one that I called if he comes AND reward the one that stayed if he stayed. Today they both just . . . understood! "Oh is that all you wanted . . . no problem." Quote
Malamum Posted July 18, 2003 Posted July 18, 2003 Yay.. :klacz: It feels good when things just come together. Quote
DogPaddle Posted July 19, 2003 Author Posted July 19, 2003 Thanks, I know it's not earth shattering but I was happy and it makes mylife easier if I can specify which dog I want to do something - It gets a trifle crowded when both dogs "heelup" at the same time - maybe I should have taught zaphod to "heelup" on my right. Carolk9s Posted July 20, 2003 Posted July 20, 2003 Oh boy do I understand your elation at this breakthrough! Now try it with 3! 8) One of which whom I believe truly wishes he was an only dog. When I take the pack up to the agility yard to practice and play around, I'll put two on a stay and work the third. Suddenly I have two dogs going through the tunnel which must then evolve to a game of chase. Good for you, that IS an accomplishment! Quote
DogPaddle Posted July 21, 2003 Author Posted July 21, 2003 3! :o Oh no, that would be tricky! I maybe understand the want to be an only dog thing, Kavik adores being brushed (he is unabashedly vain) but Zaphod who I'm beginning to think is Lab/GSD really needs more brushing, Kavik still has difficulty waiting his turn with this. Usually I have to brush Kavik, then 1/2 of Zaphod, brush Kavik again and tell him how pretty he is, brush the rest of Zaphod, and brush Kavik again. Quote
