danyell Posted July 11, 2003 Posted July 11, 2003 I have a new puppy I would love to find some good healthy games for her to play (besides the bite-me-to-death game she enjoys now) she is 9 weeks about 2.5 pounds and full of energy. She is very smart! I guess I'm just not very creative but we only have a game of chase and that's it! Quote
mjriggl2 Posted July 11, 2003 Posted July 11, 2003 A puppy KONG toy propably will do... My Wolfie (6months) loves to have it especially when I stuffed things - like her dry foods, cookies, peanut butter - in it. She will try hard and spend times to get the treats out. I think it is also a good brain trainier. Quote
DogPaddle Posted July 15, 2003 Posted July 15, 2003 Hide and Seek - you either need a puppy who will stay on command or someone to help - good beginer practice if you want to do SAR stuff later. Any tricks training. Tug Chase Fetch 1-2-3 Blow wind in your face - I know sounds stupid but it drove both of my mom's dogs batty - You just have the dog on your lap or near you and count aloud in a dramatic fashion and after three blow lightly in their face. They get excited and learn to develop patterns. Find the treat - put dog in crate, in a stay or leash to something, show pup some small savory treats, hide them (start with really simple spots like on the middle of the living room floor in plain site and work your way up) let pup go. Kong toys galore Treat balls - dispenses treats if rolled the right way Tracking games - pm me for more details if you want Quote
mommacat Posted July 17, 2003 Posted July 17, 2003 My pup loves to tug on things, she also has a Kong that she likes (I smear some peanut butter in it to keep her busier longer) and a squeaky toy that she LOVES - especially it seems, when we are trying to watch a movie!! Her favorite "game", however, is learning new tricks. She loves it when I work with her, and loves to show off for people. Danyell, what kind of dog is yours? She looks a lot like my Japanese Spitz, Maya (I can't post a pic of her from here, check out my avatar)[/img] Quote
danyell Posted July 27, 2003 Author Posted July 27, 2003 she's a chihuahua/pomeranian/poodle mix and she's so small even the small kong that i have seen at the pet store looks to big for her!! maybe they make mini ones I'll have to keep looking. we got her one of those treat balls where the treats come out when you roll it -- well she can barely roll it over its so cute ! she seems to have given up on that. I'm going to try some hiding games but her attention span is VERY short. maybe that would help though. She can sit and lie down (I'm so proud) but I am going to try new tricks. Its so cute I've noticed that everytime I say "good girl" she automatically sits and looks at me. She loves liver treats! Thanks for the suggestions!!1 Quote
