His master died back in November and left him with a human who was not taking proper care of him. At 12 years old, he started "escaping" the house, roaming the streets looking for his master. After being picked up by animal control once and "bailed out", his human caretaker (I debate if that is the right term for her) abandoned him in the house, along with a ferret and a cat, and when neighbors found him he was starving and flea-infested. He was taken to the pound and euthanized before any of the family knew what had happened. His kooky caretaker had nothing to say. Say a prayer for poor old Ned...Thanks everyone... Quote

Sanvean Posted July 10, 2003 Posted July 10, 2003 How sad...everybody, please take a moment and think about what will happen to your pets if you die unexpectedly. I know my parents would love my four angels, but not everyone is so lucky to have family who are willing and able to care for pets. The HSUS has some information on this on their site. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted July 10, 2003 Posted July 10, 2003 Well, when I said that same exact thing to my friend, who is married to Ned's master's son, she quickly corrected me by saying that "No he's not. Dogs do not go to Heaven..." which made me sad. She asked me on what did I base my thoughts that dogs went to Heaven. I told her I had to believe that. Poor Ned. He did not deserve to die durrounded by strangers in a cold and smelly place. I am sure his master would have been shocked at what happened to him after his passing. It definately made me think about making arrangements for my dogs if anything should happen to me... Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted July 11, 2003 Posted July 11, 2003 Thanks Dog Lover. :) Apparently Ned wandered out of the back yard where he was left UNATTENDED and taken to the pound. Since his "caretaker" (yeah, right) was the one listed as his owner and she could not be reached, he was there for seven days before the other family members even knew that the house had been abandoned. He had already been euthanized at that point. :cry: I prefer to think that he is with his master again, too. :angel: Quote

meehs Posted July 11, 2003 Posted July 11, 2003 I have a cat named Ned! I feel terrible for old Ned (the dog). That's no way for any dog to have to spend it's last days! I commend Pup1 for just calling Ned's "caretaker" Kooky! I can come up with some other choice words for her. Quote
