Guest Anonymous Posted July 10, 2003 Posted July 10, 2003 HOLY PIT BULLS! Are we chasing our tails? by Cheryl Eliot There's a terror on the loose and our children are dying. Research indicates that approximately 2,000 children are killed annually in our nation by one specific breed. Ninety-two percent of the time, the killer was considered "part of the family." Between 1986 and 1993 the number of children seriously injured or killed by this breed rose four-hundred percent--and if you're like most people, you can't name the culprit. It's not the pit bull. The vicious killer of small children is the breed most commonly called "human." Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted July 10, 2003 Posted July 10, 2003 Yeah, I really liked that one. I think I will have a t-shirt made with that on it. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted July 10, 2003 Posted July 10, 2003 I kow what you mean DogLover. It is ridiculous to me how people are so willing to believe horror stories, just like little children scared of monsters under their beds. I am in favor of banning certain people from reproducing, so perhaps we won't have problems with abuse like we do in the world today. How many people would freak out if I started media hype about THAT??? Quote
meehs Posted July 11, 2003 Posted July 11, 2003 So do you think that goverment agencies will try to establish and enforce a ban on human beings now? I can't say that I'd be as opposed to it as I am breed banning. I like dogs better than people! Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted July 11, 2003 Posted July 11, 2003 I tell ya, meehs, there are DEFINATELY people who should be banned from reproducing. Man, I must run into a dozen or so great candidates for sterilization every time I go out of the house! Wouldn't it be nice??? Quote
meehs Posted July 11, 2003 Posted July 11, 2003 I couldn't agree more Pup1! It's like scraping the green slime off of the shallow end of the gene pool! Quote
mjriggl2 Posted July 11, 2003 Posted July 11, 2003 Pit Bulls are undergoing "systematic and organized" massacre and breed cleansing in this continent, mostly promoted by the mass media and helped by the government. I cannot bear to imagine people abusing and killing these tail-wagging defenseless and helpless pit bulls. Just too many sad sad stories around them... for pit bulls, "Such a grand big world, there just no place for me to stand and live?" Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted July 11, 2003 Posted July 11, 2003 I know, mj... It is sooo sad. I am doing some educational events with Hope this summer with a pitty rescue group down south as my own group is still in its infancy and still looking for fosters to work with us. I have done therapy and lecturing in the past with my rotties, so I hope to continue that with Hope. She's such a goofball, she loves visiting people and other small fuzzies. There are a LOT of pitties in my area and a lot of them end up on the news, unfortunately. Hear about the meter-reader attacked by the four pit bulls about a month ago? That was down the road from me. I could have slapped the guy! FOUR pit bulls, all related, in a back yard with a FOUR FOOT FENCE, antagonized by kids every waking moment of the day, what the h*** did he expect was going to happen? Idiot. :eviltongue: Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted July 15, 2003 Posted July 15, 2003 Sorry pup1, that guy was dumb, but any pitbull that attacks a human like that should be put down. Quote
DogPaddle Posted July 15, 2003 Posted July 15, 2003 Now that's not fair, you can't go and persecute one specific breed just on the basis of a few nasty ones (probably bad breeding or raised wrong.) We need to legislate the breeders and the handlers not the breed itself. Now I know that this breed has had aggression and dominance bred into it for a very long time but that can be corrected. And those humans that are nice shouldn't have to suffer for the crimes of a few. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted July 15, 2003 Posted July 15, 2003 Well Johnny, I do agree that the dogs should be put down. They tore off the woman's scalp and her ear and she suffered numerous other bite wounds. The owner was fighting to get them back. He should NOT be allowed to have them, but no shelter will adopt them out, either. The most humane thing for them would be a humane death, I agree, to end what was surely a miserable life. Quote
