If you don't have a pool sweeper, you have to vacuum it by hand everyday. Everyday you have to skim the surface for leaves, bugs, or fish the occasional dead mouse out. In the Spring a cloud of maple seed pods and stems fall in it from the surrounding trees - all from the neighbors' yards! You are always backwashing the pump, dumping excess water or adding more to it. If you get a hard winter, you might have a pipe burst - always underground so you have to dig up half the yard to fix it. This year the pilot keeps going out on the heater. When it does work it always incinerates a couple mice no matter how many times we check it before we fire it up. I will never ever own another one unless a pool boy comes with it. :PROXY5: Quote
