Saw a Real APBT Today!

Today was a nice day! :) I saw my very first, real, live, American Pit Bull Terrier! :D

I was at Yatooma's house today, and we where walking down the street by her house, when a man and his dog came by and started looking for a box in the garbage! ( :o Yes, I know, weird...). Anyway, I got a closer look at the dog, and my eyes nearly fell out of my sockets...

A real, live American Put Bull Terrier, was only a few feet away from me, sniffing at the garbage, and then looked up and saw me, and gave me the all famous "Pit Bull" smile that I only see in pictures. It was heaven I tell you! Even in that blistering heat! Anyway, the owner looked up at me, and I was just about to introduce myself and ask him if I could pet his pooch, when Yatooma (thanks alot! :roll: :lol:) said she wanted to go back home, and it was hot. I regretfully left, wondering about the Pit....

I can't help but think that this was the Pit I saw in an add a long time ago at the super market.... :-? Same color, not really, but, how many Pit Bulls do you see in Bahrain? Not that many....!!

Another thing, I recently found out (but forgot to tell you guys! :oops:) that my cousins friend's brother got a Pit. I was surpirised! Thier family knew nothing about dogs, thier mother hated them! The dog is in a CAGE and is not allowed in the house! Now you wonderful APBT owners/lovers tell me what this Pit is gunna turn out to be? They already have problems with it ripping thier clothes and biting them.... I don't like where this is going.... :cry:

Anyway, so I had a Pit Bull day today! Thought I would make you guys smile, I know that Pit did! :D (He smiled to me, too!) I will try to dig put more info on my cousin's friend's Pit (her name is Shagrah by the way, the dog I mean! :lol:) That means (according to my cousins friend) Blondie or light colored in arabic (the dog is white). She promised pictures, but I still haven't got any.... :-? It just keeps getting weirder and weirder and I'm wondering if it's all just a lie, cuz she knows I'm a doggie lover and owner... :-?

truthfully, there is no way to tell you exactly how this dog will turn out, but chances are not very good. you said the dog is in a cage and not allowed in the house. does this mean the cage is outside? this would leave the dog with no protection from the weather, which can quickly lead to a variety of problems such as heatstroke, hypotermia, etc (i don't know what the climate is there).

if the dog is not allowed in the house, it is receiving little to no socialization with humans and other animals. this is not good! dogs who are not socialized often display fear aggression. any aggression the dog has is going to be compounded by the stress of being in a cage 24/7. the dog is already showing aggression if it's biting them. (although if it's a puppy it may just be mouthing or play biting).

chewing clothes is not aggression related at all. the dog simply has no outlet for it's energy. pits are aggressive chewers and will chew anything if not provided with the proper excersize and toys.

these people have no business having any kind of dog, nevermind a pit bull.

Rowie I don't think I have ever seen a pure bred APBT in real life either.

There was a guy with an American Bulldog at our training club on the weekend, that was the first time I had seen one of those in real life. He was such a cutie (the dog NOT the guy).

Cool Rowie! I saw my first one at the SPCA, just a couple of weeks ago. There are a bunch of them in court hold, they were found in a fighting ring! I can't even believe that the city is even considering giving them back!!!! It's so wierd. Some of them will have to be put down( :( ) because they are aggresive, but some are big lovable teddy bears! One kept licking my hand through the cage! They are all so cute! Those big smiles, even though these dogs have been through h***! Oh, I wanted to take them all home, they were so beautiful!!!! :D :D

I'm one of those lucky people who gets to see a APBT every sunday at dog training!
But guess what? I saw my first Am Staff the other night!!! I'd been wanting to see this guys dog for a while and the other night he had a little gathering at his place so I went and got to see his dog!!! He was the most gorgeous thing, I fell instantly in love!
One of his mates has met Lily and said to me the other night "I'm getting myself a Lily" and sure enough, he's got a boxer ordered from a breeder so not only do I have an am staff to play with now, I get another boxer to play with! :angel:
