abker17 Posted July 7, 2003 Posted July 7, 2003 Well, I was gone on vacation all of last week. While I was gone the dogs had to go to a boarding kennel. My mom said that she wanted to try putting the dogs in the same cage at the kennel, and although I strongly disagreed, the worker that was there said that if he saw any sign of trouble between my two pups, he would immediatly seperate them. So, I gave in in the end, and spent nearly the whole night worring that Abby would hurt Cracker. I called the place in the middle of the week, and to my great suprise and delight, there had been no trouble! :) When we returned, and went to pick up the dogs they were over-joyed to see us, and I was so happy to finally have my puppy dogs back!!!! :D :D I've found that since we got back Cracker has seemed a lot more comfortable(sp?) around Abby. she used to stay out of Abby's way, and act scared around here, since these last few attacks. I think that having the dogs in the same cage really helped! :) They just seem so much more happy around each other. :) Of course, we still have a ways to go in thier relationship, but everything is going well so far! I've been giving Abby all the "firsts" and Cracker doesn't seem to mind. I wanted to update everyone, and thank u all again for helping me! Right now times are good! :D Quote

courtnek Posted July 7, 2003 Posted July 7, 2003 Good job Abker!! (and Abker's mom!!) Putting them in the same cage reinforced the "ladder rungs" - Cracker had to obey Abby because she couldnt get away...and since she doesnt want to lead anyway this allowed them to get it all straightened out between them. Although Cracker was there first, she's not a natural leader. Abby is, and this is the way it should be in their canine/wolf hiearchy.... I think things will be more peaceful now, and I;m glad it all worked out!! :D :D :D Quote
