shorty Posted June 30, 2003 Posted June 30, 2003 My aunt who lives in TN was told by a neighbor that someone had dumped 3 puppies on the side of the road a few days ago.Hearing this my aunt and her husband went to check it out. When they got to the "scene of the crime" they found 3 Lab mix puppies skinny, full of ticks, fleas, and worms! So they took them home and are in the proccess of getting them well.I am so happy that these pups were saved! I don't think they would have lasted much longer. Here is a pic of them And here is a little website she made for them http://www.smbizassist.com/Orphans.htm Quote
Malamum Posted June 30, 2003 Posted June 30, 2003 That's good to hear. The person that dumped those adorable things can't possible have a heart. :2gunfire: Quote
behle Posted June 30, 2003 Posted June 30, 2003 Wonderful job of saving those adorable pups! I loved the web page....especially the picture titled Welcome Home. That picture says it all!   :klacz: :klacz: :klacz: Quote

Sanvean Posted June 30, 2003 Posted June 30, 2003 The poor sweethearts! I'm so glad she rescued them! Have they found homes yet? Quote
Angelboddy Posted June 30, 2003 Posted June 30, 2003 I am soooo happy for the pups. :D And I am sooo proud of your aunt. 3 hips for auntie. :multi: I hope they find really good homes. Quote
shorty Posted June 30, 2003 Author Posted June 30, 2003 My aunt lives in the back woods of Tennessee. She said many people there don't have electricity or indoor plumbing and are very poor. Most people there have dogs but do not spay/neuter them or give them any health care. She has rehomed quite a few adult dogs that have wandered onto her property. She took in and old coon hound that a neighbor just quit feeding so he would starve to death.A few months ago she took in a stray kitty who was already pregnant and got her spayed. She was a teacher back when she lived here in Michigan. She tried to approach the school system in Tennessee to ask them if she could start a program to educate children about animal welfare. She said very few seemed interested :( She thinks she will not be able to find good homes for these pups so she has decided that she will probably just keep all of them. She has 7 acres so she certainly has enough room. The animal shelter in her area closed due to lack of funds so most unwanted pets in her area are just dumped or shot!We just started putting together a dog rescue forum. We would appreciate everyones help and input. We want to start saving as many of these babies as we can.We don't really know what to do,but we are determined to do something! Thanks everyone! Here is the link to the forum Rescue Forum Quote
courtnek Posted July 1, 2003 Posted July 1, 2003 can I have the yellow one? Where are you in Michigan? I'm in Illinois!! Quote
courtnek Posted July 1, 2003 Posted July 1, 2003 bummer - I just re-read it and realized your Aunt's in Tennesee.... :( Quote
Daisysmom Posted July 1, 2003 Posted July 1, 2003 Maybe auntie needs to take a trip for a little visit  Quote
Rosebud Posted July 1, 2003 Posted July 1, 2003 :D shorty your mom is a true  In case mom can't take a whole road trip - Let me know if the yellow lab needs transport from around the middle/west end of TN, I could take the pup from (preferably)Jackson, TN but I could do Nashville, TN to Cape Girardeau, MO or somewhere in that tri-state area with no problem. Quote
Daisysmom Posted July 1, 2003 Posted July 1, 2003 Ut - oh Courtnek!!!!! :B-fly: Little yellow puppy maybe coming :P Quote
Sanvean Posted July 1, 2003 Posted July 1, 2003 Shorty, I'm also in Michigan :) (Lansing area) That's so sad about the lack of help for animals there. Maybe a shelter in a larger city would be willing to help out if people in her area could provide transportation? I'm glad she's keeping these babies, though :) Quote
bk_blue Posted July 1, 2003 Posted July 1, 2003 Your aunty is definitely an angel... those poor little puppies... how could anyone just dump them...    Quote
shorty Posted July 1, 2003 Author Posted July 1, 2003 Thanks everyone!Courtnek if she wants to give up the yellow one I will get in touch with you :D There is some good news to share. My aunt was talking to her Vet about all the animals that get abandoned in the area.He said he was going to to sponser a local meeting in their county about dumping unwanted pets! That's the first positive step my aunt has seen for dealing with this problem!Needless to say she is very excited! :D Quote
