StarFox Posted June 27, 2003 Posted June 27, 2003 Dumb question- Zebra's lips are turning from black to pink. Is that normal??? It's not like a pale pink but the same colour as the rest of his mouth. It's just that his lips are turing from black to pink slowly. Why is that? I find it very odd. Sorry about the dumb question...just curious. Quote
Mary's Mama Posted June 27, 2003 Posted June 27, 2003 Not heard of the lips turning like that but have heard of the nose turning, when using plastic bowls. Do you use plastic bowls? Quote
Sanvean Posted June 27, 2003 Posted June 27, 2003 How old is Zebra? I know some Maltese puppies' lips, noses and eye rims turn from pink to black as they grow up. Quote
Carolk9s Posted June 27, 2003 Posted June 27, 2003 Pigment changes are not uncommon as dogs mature. When Jesse was a pup, his lips were solid black. As he matured, pigment changed in areas so his lips have pink on them. When his mouth is closed, his lips show just the black, mouth open, you can see the pink. Here is a photo of him when he was about a year old, lips still black. This one was taken when he was about 6, the pink is showing. Quote
pei obssessed Posted June 27, 2003 Posted June 27, 2003 I don't know if this might have anything to do with Zebra's lips, but Hippo's tongue (which is bluish) turns lighter from the heat, so when she's outside running around her tongue's close to pink (a normal dog's tongue :D ) So I was thinking that the colour of Zebra's lips might be changing from heat, if it's not because he's growing up (don't know how old he is). StarFox Posted June 28, 2003 Author Posted June 28, 2003 Oh thanks for the replies...I think it's just him growing and the pigment changing in his lips. It's just odd because it started very suddenly about a week ago...I wonder what causes the change though..hmm somthing to look into. Quote
