iceyshiver21 Posted June 25, 2003 Posted June 25, 2003 I've been a member here for awhile, I dont post alot though just kinda look in every once in awhile, and have been doing even more now that school is out. I am/have been a member to many boards (sitstay  , dog fancy, before it fell apart, here, a Cat board, and the one I devote most my time to Pettalk) Out of all of them Pettalk and here are my favorites, so haha you all are stuck with me now! :P ________________________________________ Well also with the come of Summer, I begin dog training again. We all get together every tuesday and work on agility, obediance, and showmanship. Most anyone can join and its free, we have a Great instructor! I have been apart of this for 4 years now. Well this year I got chosen to become a Youth Leader. Its where she teaches you, so you get to teach the beginners :D It's So much fun. Annie loves it dearly...she gets so exicted to go, I've made so many good friends though that and it is so fun. Something else I found for future trainers- For all people under 18, if you join 4H, you can join the Dog Project and with most 4H Dog Projects they meet once a week, which means FREE TRAINING for you and your dog. Which is perfect for kids whos parents won't put out the money for dog training. And to top it all off they usally host a fun show and you get to show at the county fair, plus get a blue at county level you move on to state! Quote
Sanvean Posted June 26, 2003 Posted June 26, 2003 Good suggestion! I know a couple of local trainers do work with 4H here. Quote
mommacat Posted June 28, 2003 Posted June 28, 2003 I did this as a youth with 2 different schnauzers, and had a wonderful time. My younger dog never got out of the puppy stage and didn't do very well, but my older one was county champ and we competed at state. Great experience, and what an ego booster as a kid to show off how well trained my dog was compared to other adults dogs!!! Quote

I know what you mean, annie was a year and a half, when she had to show in a class for mostly 3 year dogs, because I wasnt allowed to go back to the begginer classes because I had already been through them with my first dog. Not only did she get Champ at the county level, she went on and got Reserve Champ only seperating the leader by 1/2 a point. I was SOO Proud of her, and it was SO much fun! She is such a sweetie and I know she enjoyed all the lovin she got from all the people how would stop and pet her. :D :D Quote

We are really excited about this dog, she is such a sweetheart, and seems to be quite smart and tries to please. I have a great pic of her with my daughter, is it ok to post a pic like that on here, too? I'll try to get some more posted of her. Quote
