Guest Anonymous Posted June 25, 2003 Posted June 25, 2003 airedale terier or golden retriver from breeders.....??? how much are they Quote
Sanvean Posted June 26, 2003 Posted June 26, 2003 Well, assuming you're getting from a top quality breeder: Golden: $500 to $1500 for a pet-quality puppy Airedale: $750 and $1200 for a pet-quality puppy Remember, this is not an area to skimp! If you want to save money by getting a dog from a poor-quality breeder, you will end up spending FAR more in the end in vet bills, training fees, etc. This is especially true for goldens, as it seems like everyone and their brother is breeding them nowadays. Here are sites with good advice on finding a reputable breeder: http://www.goldheart.org/ghpuppybuyerguide.htm http://www.frii.com/~phouka/puppy/bdr_frames.html Quote
stacer126 Posted June 26, 2003 Posted June 26, 2003 Here in Canada my boss bought a Golden for $800, not sure about the US. Quote
Daisysmom Posted June 26, 2003 Posted June 26, 2003 My cousin breeds goldens, and they charge $1,500 :o Quote
Rosebud Posted June 26, 2003 Posted June 26, 2003  Well all I can say is that you get what you pay for, even in the dog world. Buy cheap get cheap. You might luck up and find a reputable breeder that breeds sounds dogs at reasonable prices, but generally the better the breeder the bigger the price. It also holds true that just because it costs the most doesn't mean it's the best quality. You should really check out the national breed club here in the states and research their breeders list. Good luck. Quote
courtnek Posted June 27, 2003 Posted June 27, 2003 also, in the case of the Goldens, that price is for pet quality. If they have good, stable bloodlines and papers, they can run as high as $3000 and $4000 for show quality dogs. Especially if the bloodline is well established and has proven itself to be free of many of the poor breeding ailments, and fits all the requirements to be a top show dog.... Quote
