Sanvean Posted June 23, 2003 Posted June 23, 2003 Grrrr! As if I didn't have -enough- on my mind, with this danged wedding less than five weeks away! We got Macy an ex-pen last week so that she wouldn't have to be crated all day while we were gone. Her crate is plenty big enough for her, but I wanted her to be able to romp and play some more. So we got a 30-inch-tall pen for her to stay in while we're at work. The first day, I put her in it, and she seemed quite pleased with it. When I came home at lunchtime, though, she met me at the door, tail wagging, seemingly quite pleased with herself :) I thought maybe I'd left her out by accident -- though I didn't think so -- and put her back in. When my fiance came home that afternoon, there she was again, outside her pen. I'm positive she didn't jump out of it -- she can hardly jump up on the couch! -- so she MUST have climbed. The pen didn't come with a cover. What do you folks suggest to keep my baby in there, safe and secure? Quote
Sanvean Posted June 23, 2003 Author Posted June 23, 2003 I don't believe so. My fiance is also reluctant to spend more money on something that cost enough in the first place, unless we can't find any kid of homemade solution :) (He wanted to get a GIANT crate for her, but I argued that it would take up too much room.) My idea was to break down a large cardboard box and set it on top of the pen; he thinks she'll just nudge it out of the way. Quote
Sanvean Posted June 23, 2003 Author Posted June 23, 2003 Michele, you're brilliant! I can't believe that didn't occur to me :) Quote
Malamum Posted June 24, 2003 Posted June 24, 2003 What about some shade cloth or something similar, then like Michelle suggested tie some ribbon or string around the edges and then tie it to the pen. If you can get some cloth that is not too heavy and fairly transparent some light should still get through then the pen won't feel so confined either. Quote
StarFox Posted June 24, 2003 Posted June 24, 2003 How about some clear PVC (plexiglass) from your local home depot or heardwhear store. It's a clear plastic that is a half inch or less in thickness. YOu can usually get it in any shape or size and since it's clear your pup wouldn't feel confined. You could drill holes in it and use the twine to hold it down or use thoes plastic zip ties? Ohh well it's just a suggestion! :D Good luck comming up with something! Quote
mouseatthebusstop Posted June 24, 2003 Posted June 24, 2003 I think you should put her in and watch how she gets out. with a camera handy. could she squeeze though the bars  Quote
Sanvean Posted June 24, 2003 Author Posted June 24, 2003 Mouse, that would be a cute "Funniest Home Video," wouldn't it? :) Jay went to Lowe's last night and got some wide, lightweight wood panels we're going to put over the top of the pen. Hopefully that will help! (We'll see when I go home for lunch today!) Kiwi, I'll put some wedding info in NDR shortly! Quote
Angelboddy Posted June 24, 2003 Posted June 24, 2003 Congrats on the wedding! I hope you figure out how to get you sneaky little doggie to stay in the pen. All the suggestions are great ones. Good luck! :D Quote
