Ever since our pet store stopped selling Rowie's doggie food, Nutrience, I've been looking everywhere for a GOOD dog food. All the stores I have looked at so far have: Alpo, Pedigree, Eukanuba, Purina, and Iams. Talk about bad dog food! Anyway, I was forced to get Rowie Pedigree, it's the only food I can find so far. I feel so bad!

Anyway, after doing some seriouse researching, I have decided that Canidae is the best. Well, the best for Rowie anyway. But, do you think Bahrain would have some? Nooo! :x

So I'm thinking of ordering online(IF my mother will let me! :x ) do you think they can ship all they way to Bahrain? We're in the Middle East... :-?

Any advice? If I can't get it, which brand should I use? :o Thanks, I'm going to check the pet store again and ask if they brough the food back....

Sigh...

On one hand, Canidae is a really good food. It even smells good to my nose!
On the other, it gave all of my dogs TOO soft stools and more frequent bowel movements.
I then found out via the belgian list I'm on that many of the dogs that had been fed Canidae had soft stools. Not runny and still somewhat formed but soft. Whether or not that is a drawback for Rowie is for you to decide, perhaps won't even affect her that way.
If you cannot get it anyway, not sure what to suggest. If you can only feed food found locally, I wonder if simply adding fresh 'treats' will help. Treats such as yogurt, fresh veggies, small amounts of fresh raw meat, fresh eggs etc.

Thank you both! :D

I checked out the website, NONE are found here...

IF (that's a BIG "if") I get Canidea, should I add the fresh veggies? Yogurt? Maybe that will harden her stools...

So far I'm using Kibble, we also add some Olive Oil, as my dog trainer recommended it. One spoon only. Should I add some yogurt to it, too? If so, how much?

I REALLY hope Rowie's dog food will be in stock-SOON! :(

If you can't get the food you want talk to your pet store and tell them the facts about these "bad" brands and why stocking something of higher quality would be better for the whole community, not just for you. Maybe they'll listen and realise that they'd be helping themselves as well if they stocked better foods.
Yoghurts a great thing to add to a dogs meals, it has so many benefits. There was something posted here a while back.. oh, found the link - http://www.askdrsears.com/html/4/T045700.asp
Also adding pureed pumpkin is great to regulate stools, it worked for Lily. A couple of raw bones a week is also always a good idea

If you have a pet store in your area that you're a regular at, you could ask them if they'll order the food of your choice and stock it for you. Some companies won't ship to a private residence but they'll ship to a store. A lot of times smaller stores will be happy to do that for you. Especially if you're a regular customer.

I've had really good luck with Bil-Jac foods and my dogs LOVE the stuff!

Thnks for your help!

I tried the link to the website Kiger, the closest to me is Ireal! My mom will NEVER allow me to go there just for dog food!

I like Aroura's idea, I'll ask me Pet Shop if they can!! :D

Thanks for all your help, where would I be without you?? :)

Poor Rowie and Kiger! I feel bad that you guys can't buy all the yummy foods for your dogs there! Maybe you could contact the companies directly and see if they have any suggestions?

I am trying to decide between these ones for Macy (these are what are stocked at my local store): California Natural, Canidae, Innova, Natural Balance, Royal Canin, Wellness, and Wysong.

Saneaven, I say go with Wellnesss(oh your so lucky you have them! Where do you live? Is it OK if Rowie and I come and live with you?)...

Kiger, I asked my mom about getting an Isreali distributer to get it for us, she gave me this glare and said:"Your kidding, right?" :x Maybe if I beg some more...

Oh wait, I just asked my mom, she understood it wrong! She thought that we go OVER there and get it! Yeah mom, we'll travel a ew thousand miles to get a bag of food for Rowie!

She's tired now and told me she'll think of it, I hope that's a yes! :D

(But I think it's a no! :( )

I live in Michigan (the state shaped like a mitten!). You and Rowie are welcome any time, as long as she doesn't squish Macy ;)

Hey, anytime we're there, we'll drop by!

Rowie, squish Macy? She'll more than likely be ripping her toys apart first... Oh Rowie, why must you rip every toy in sight?

There are international distributors for EaglePack. See if there is a close one that can ship it the rest of the way to you:

My dogs absolutely love this brand. I feed the Eagle Natural for large breeds, but after seeing Sally & Rocket's brother who is on the Holistic, I am really seriously considering switching to it. I swear by this brand, great stools that are clock-work. I have never owned an animal that has a poo-poo at the same time every day. Absolutely no allergies or digestion problems other than the occasional frog supplement (when will he learn). Great coats and teeth, Paku had a perfect coat (he's on the Holistic). Now I add real meat or the canned food and they get good stuff like yogurt.

Rowie - see if your store will become a merchant for this brand.
