Can anyone tell me the breed of dog Hooch was in the movie Turner & Hooch?

The Dogue de Bordeaux is characterised by the largest, most magnificent head in dogdom and layered wrinkles on its face and hefty exaggerated paws he trudges into the heart of people all over the world. Originally used for cattledroving and guarding the vineyards in Bordeaux. This breed has survived whitin a hair of extinction one national revolution, two world wars and a Hollywood adventure Turner & Hooch...
It is also referred to as the French Mastiff,Bordeaux Bulldog,or just "DdB",Dogue de Bordeaux. The Bordeaux is an extremely cooperativ, intelligent, and fearless giant. Since the 1400s the DdB has had many jobs: Herding cattle, flock guarding, animal baiting etc. Powerful and surprisingly athletic, the Dogue de Bordeaux makes an excellent guardian. Beneath all that thoughness, excists a sweet, sincere, slobbering loveable character that makes a wonderful companion.

I have noticed a lot in dog movies that when two different breeds have pups, they all look like the mother and one looks like the father. Can that really happen in mix breeds?
I just remembered that because at the end of turner and hooch, the border collie an hooch had pups. They all looked just like the mother and one just like Hooch.

Yes, in fact, that can happen. it's not super common, but whichever dog has the "genetic upside" - (the more prevalant gene structure) most of the puppies will take after that dog. Especially if one of the dogs was a "mix"
(usually only two breeds, like a golden/lab) and the other is a "mutt"
(heinz 57, like Freebee's mom). Freebee's dad was purebred yellow lab, the mom was a mutt, and all the puppies but one ended up looking like black labs. (black is the prevalent gene color in labs)

The slobbering was hilarious, but I thought it even funnier when he tore up the car....a friend at work has one, and had to have his car upholstery redone - apparetnly they get bored easily.....lol

I'm pretty sure "hooch" was a purebred, I remember reading something about the dog a while back. We had a DDBx puppy come into the vets about 2 months ago for a bath (she had demo and needed to be dipped), and she was THE most adorable dog I have ever seen (aside from my own, of course  ). She was probably around 6-8 months old, and about 70 lbs, but the whole time she was in the tub and I was bathing her, she just sat there like a little kid who was being punished, with this pouty little "monkey face". After she was done, while all the other dogs bark and carried on, she just sat in the corner of her kennel with her sad little face (of course, I had to keep "visiting" with her  ). She didn't drool nearly as much as some DDBx do, but I still had a few slime trails on me by the time I went home :o

I'm probably wrong then, my sister says he was a purebred too.
I thought it was a Rough Collie he had pups with, not a Border Collie, will have to watch it now - I love that film - will have to buy it on video!

Angel,

do you mean Ol Yeller or Turner and Hooch?

they didnt actually shoot either dog, my question to Mei was that
if this is something you dont do, kill an animal that is, then is that why
they made a different version of Ol Yeller, where he doesnt get shot in the end?

I have seen both versions of Ol Yeller, in the second one he dies in his sleep, I think....

There were two versions of Bambi, too. One where he dies and one where
he doesnt....

i'M TALKING ABOUT OL YELLER.
Bambie made me cry to.
I did not know that thry made a second ol yeller.
I do know that they made a second bambie but i never saw it.
I also cried on e.t when they thought he was dead.
I got to see that in the movie theaters when it first came out, now they have a new improved one on d.v.d

Ol Yeller made me cry really bad too...the poor dog saved their lives from the bear, and then had to be put down because of Rabies...I had nightmares about it......

Bambi didnt bother me so much - my mom had taught us that those were cartoons, and so not real, and Bambi didnt really die because he was
never really alive....(after all three kids were in hysterics the first time we saw it - lol) but she couldnt do anything about Ol Yeller except tell us that they really didnt shoot him - it was just a movie.....

Disney decided to change Bambi because it was basically a show for small children, and it was upsetting them very badly, so they made the new version....my son never saw the old version...it may be considered a collectors item now....

I bawled like a baby at Bambi...and ole' yeller. I always cry and some of the disney movies. Like the Lion King...when Mufasa dies. I've seen it so many times, and yet I always cry when he dies. Of course it's worse now with all these pregnancy hormones. I cry at sad commercials....

Oh, sheltielover. I totally know where your coming from.
After everyone of my babys I would just start crying for no reason. And just when i thought the crying part was over.
They call that post partome.
I think one of the factors was that my body looked so deformed afterwards.
